List of show grounds camping Australia

I was hoping that there may be a easy way to find a list of State by State Show Ground Camping sites.

Now I know that if one did exist, that it would be a variable list as there would be changes due to the Caravan Park owners bitching re low cost camping.

But any clue would be great.  Perhaps there is a thread on this forum????

Only in the free, budget campsites where some of us have put in ones we have been to.
Would be a good idea for more to be put on there, something I would be looking for at times.

Good Idea. Out of interest, I do volunteer work at the Toowoomba Showgrounds where they charge $25 per night plus $5 if you use the dump point - this may seem expensive but compared to the caravan parks it's a bargain. I don't think the RAS makes much out of it as the toilets and facilities are often abused and campers sometimes overstay or forget to pay. Magic spot though and ultra quiet.

I think lots of show grounds are over priced compared with what they offer , I would rather pay $32 a night at a caravan park with dump point than $25 a night plus $5 for using dump point

Denis,

Agree about the Toowoomba Showgrounds. Nice camping and if you travel with dogs, only caravan camping in Toowoomba. Stay and paid for two nights in early May. Where is the dump point at the showgrounds. Looked for it out of interest but did not locate (May need next visit)?

Regards Rabbit

G'Day Rabbit,  the dump point is down near where the pond/lagoon is....basically SSE and down the hill from the main office where you pay your fees.  It's just a big lid inside a low pipe fence with a hose if it ain't been knicked.   Best parking is up the top where you get a beautiful view but anywhere is heaps better than a caravan park and no noise.

Regards

 HW,

I would definite support your comments.

We have stayed at the Alstonville and Malany Canungra show grounds etc etc.

It would be good to have a separate thread, so I will start one on this forum.

Sounds a good idea but to maintain such a list with all changes in availability resulting in caravan parks complaing and council changing the laws it probably will never be water tight, but in saying that the bible is not always to the letter either.

some show grounds we have stayed in over the years some better than others but all ok for overnighting. Some of these may not be open any more.

I stayed at Warrnambool about 15 months ago. There was a charge of $20.00 which I thought was a bit rich for the facilities offered.

I agree  about some of the show ground charges  not being as cheap as they once were but to stay open and keep the caravan operators in a certain area where there has been rumbling about them competing against their business this is what they have to do to keep open . I have not stayed at any for over 12 months .And yes Warrnambool show grounds may not have the best facilities, but when we were down that way there the Grand Anuual Classic speedway meet was on over 3/4 days and to get a caravan park to stay in is a none event,We know people who had booked 12 months in advance and was paying $40 unpowered site fees per night and that was no a bells and jumping castle set up.
