Its caused when a photo is posted that hasn't been resized so it spreads across 2 pages, the only solution as I see it is to not post photos that are not resized, or it may be possible for the Webmaster to set up the website to only accept photos up to a set maximum size.
The easiest way to read posts that are spread out is to right click on the bottom scroll bar and hold the mouse button then you just move your mouse back and forth to read the post Cheers David

When I open the index of the GN site, the page is normal size and can be read ok, but when I open a post to read or to reply etc, it stretches beyond the edge including the writing and I have to move the bar back and forth to read it all.
This has happened recently, not sure why. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it please.
When an huge photo has been put in without being resized th whole of that thread stays stretched. Unless you resize first which is so easy even on windows 8; all the thread stays stretched. This has been discussed so many times and instructions given for resizing so many times, I haven't commented of late. I back out of a thread as soon as I see it stretched.
All mine are resized, the same way you do yours, been ok up to date so I don't know what the problem is, this happens whether the the thread has a picture or not (ie; text only)....
Thanks for the tips folks, will try a couple....

I always re-size mine the same way and it has not been a problem in the past, just been happening lately, photo's or not.
The forum rules say this about photo's;
"Posting photos Photos can be included in posts. If youd like to upload a photo, just click on the grey attach files button which is underneath the space where messages are typed in. Navigate to your image file, click on it and it should appear in the post.Problems may occur if the photo is too big ... please try to limit your image files to 3mb at most (files under 1mb are best)."
On average, the pic's I post are about one third of a MB, that is in small KBS.

There may be a way to solve this. Another forum I am on automatically resizes the photo to the correct measurement as I download the photo. Maybe Cindy could look into getting this put in to our forum.
Photo's that haven't been resized will create that problem, if there was some auto way that the site could automatically do that it would be ideal (not sure that it could though) or even if the forum is geared not to accept oversize pic's it would help.
As said earlier, mine is happening with re-sized pics and also with text only without pic's.
I have pm'd Cindy and sent her a link to the thread, but I don't think it is a forum problem, perhaps my pc settings or something....

It has happened from time to time over the years. I wouldn't know how it happens or how to fix it, but it's not a new phenomenon here.
If anyone works out how it happens and how to resolve the problem we'd all be very grateful to know. Ta.

Vic, If you're using IE you could try the following: In the Tool Bar at the top of the page click on 'Tools' Go down the menu and then click on 'Compatible View Settings' Type in activeboard.com in the window and click add. While you have the same window open enable (Click boxes) 'Display all websites in Compatibility View' & 'Download updated compatibility list from Microsoft'.
Hope it works, if not, no harm done. Ozjohn.
Thanks for the tip John, worth a try too! Also to all for the other tips etc....

Oh really Duh. I'm only having the problem when there is a large photo.
Yes, I don't know what is causing it. I will ask Cindy Sheba, I mainly wanted to know if I was the only one having the problem as if that is the case it probably would not be the forum....
It's been happening for a while now. I just thought like Marj., it was because of Pics. being too large. As some-one else already suggested, maybe Cindy could put a block on anything over a certain size.

If you want something "fixed", then your only real option, assuming there is nothing that Cindy can do at her end, is to contact Sparklit. Not long ago I asked them if they could add an "automatic linkification of URLs" feature to their Quick Reply box and they said that they would consider including it in their next software release. True to their word, this feature is now included.
Edit:
My browser (Opera) gives me the following options when dealing with images on a web page:
. Show Images . Cached Images . No Images
You could use the first option to view the photo, then select the latter option to view the written content. I make "cached" my default, as most web sites clutter their pages with ads, banners, and other useless stuff. If you wish to view a particular image, then open it in a different tab.
