Cheapskate. As you say, Bill, time will tell. Honda owners swear by them but I often wonder if that's only to justify having spent all that money. Good luck with it.

If I was going to use a genny often, ie daily, I would buy a Honda, but I reckon most of us would only use them occasionally, so at just over $300 worth a go.

My thoughts entirely.Its nice to run the aircon, and the tv safely, and it charges the laptop, also. I usually run on solar, so its a backup.We shallsee. Bill

Hi Bill look at the time breakdown , if this dies in twelve months its the same as the Honda lasting six years, easier to start, no service, winning all the way.

For that price Bill, you have not got any thing to lose really. And just to let you know Yep seen a Honda sh.. it self out at Chilli Beach and it was on it's first trip. So I recon it all has to do with pot luck these days when you buy any thing.The quality control is just there any more and that goes as far as caravans/ vehicles/

We purchased a similar look a like as the one you have, 3 years ago second hand. We have used it extensively as we free camp a lot.

Only a couple of small issues which we were able to fix. Mrs Dee wants to buy a Honda, but I can not see the cost benefits in Honda at around $1800.

Our knock off has been to Cooktown, to Tasmania and Longreach and many small trips, and has only once let us down outside Mareeba, but back in business the next day.

And it is about to be with us for our 4 to 6 month trip down the Darling and Murray and as far as Adelaide.

the cost difference of around $1500 will buy a lot of fuel and C.Park fees.

Funny that you should mention this. 12 months ago I bought an ex demo Honda Generator which had a Japanese built Honda engine; but the 'generator' part is marked "Built in China under licence for Honda Industries." There's a lot of 'lend/lease' between car/engine/small plant machinery these days. Either way, even if it only lasts 12 months the cost/longevity ratio is pretty good.
