Planning on staying here next week after recommendation from a friend.
Rates for unpowered site $9 per person per night and for power it is $21 per night. generators allowed with consideration for other campers. Sites on the water edge. Contrary to another website info, there are no discounts allowed for this site. Sealed access all the way. Office on site for payment.

Is that Leslie Dam? If so my daughter used to go camping there with a relative when she was 16 - 17.
The prices are a bit high, have wanted to go stay there for a while, but never gone that way for a while. Might still try it out after UI see what you have to say about it when you have been there.
Yes - Leslie Dam/Lake - known as both - we like the water based camping for the kayaks. We chose it over Cressbrook Dam (north of Toowoomba) because you can use the generator whereas not at Cressbrook.
Guess it is a bit expensive at $18 per night for unpowered for 2 and $21 powered for 2 makes but it still a bit cheaper than most of the other similar established campgrounds in SE Qld/Darling Downs. Cressbrook works out slightly dearer if you add the $3 additional for each and every time you come in and out of the site
Will post again after we have test driven it. Ater 8 months planning and awful weather, this is our maiden voyage you might say and thought something "semi-established" and reasonably close to civilization would ease us into the full independent camping world. before we head further north west after a week or so there.
Cheers

Sorry Jimbo - I think I may have misled you with the way I noted the costs - for unpowered it is $9 per night for single - and for 2 people, it is $18 and if you want power it is an additional $3, ie. $21.00 for 2 people or $12 for one . The way the caretaker explained it the $3 is applied per "campsite" not per person. We will be there probably tomorrow night or the next week or so, so will post again once we get there. Big attraction for us was being able to use the generator - that allows us to extend our stay if the weather is unkind. I believe if you want power, you are restricted to designated sites, but unpowered is basically free-form wherever you want away from the designated sites.

Been at Leslie Dam since Wednesday ... What a great place. Costs as per my previous post. Firewood provided, picnic tables and benches everywhere, the water is beautiful and you can pick your own site including close to the water. Great place for kayak.. Area is very big with plenty of shade.

Unfortunately, no dogs allowed which is a real bummer because the campground is really very big, so you would think pets could be Accommodated ... Could be because of the Roos that frequent the site? Or just Warwick Council regs as they administer the site. Sorry about that ... Will post again if we come across something that fits your bill.
cheers

Can I ask why you have to pay this $3 fee every time you come in and out the gate if you are staying there for more than over night? Just appears to be a rip off to me, and if one decided for what ever reason to and go in and out a few times during your stay that could add up to more that what you would pay at a caravan park. As I do not know of any van park ...Yet ... that this happens at.
Hi there Herbie .... i have responded to the $3 gate entry issue under separate new thread .... Cressbrook Dam. Definitely not happy with Toowoomba Council over this now I have their clarification And confirmation that my understanding is correct.

We are here right now....have put up a link for you with camp costs etc and yes..'''PETS ARE MOST WELCOME !!!'''(kept on a lead)
Quick summary....Camp prices are very fair...camp is very clean..plenty of room..swimming pool..good drinking water..powered or unpowered sites..across the road from the dam..quiet at night..(bit of boat noise during the day but no real problem)..very good roads into the camp..plenty of rubbish bins emptied daily although they could be spread around the camp instead of clumped together
All in all.....Younger very hard working and very helpful hosts.....credit to them.

We were at Lake Leslie last week - in the reserve area $20 for two, for un-powered - very few free camping there even though school holidays - f/camped right down near the day visitor area - a couple of tents about 150m away. The powered site area did appear quite crowded ( our opinion )
There is also the " commercial" CP about a Km or so before the reserve area - the CP is across the road from the lake and so did not appeal to us. seemed just as many there as in the reserve - looked well spaced and open and certainly not crowded also seemed to have less shade - was just not for us this visit.
The reserve as totally rubbish free but the scattered bins were all full - this was a Sunday after all.
Certainly will revisit

Warwick is only a couple of hours from home, and we'll be brining the dog
