captain chairs for vans

hi all in the caravan and moterhome book 187 on page 100 there is a picture of two captains chairs instead of the cafe style seating can any one tell me if they have them and if they do  are they comfortable, where can you get them and how much please as that seems to be a great idea

Hi Margaret

Kay and I got rid of our L shaped seating in our 23'Avan, the best thing we have done, we replaced them with a couple of recliner rockers and they swivel 360 which we got from Office Works they really comfy as against those terribly uncomfortable L shaped seating, good luck

You wont ever regret getting recliners, just like sitting in a normal lounge chair at home.

Just remember they can move about a wee bit if travelling over rough terrain, but to stop them moving we have the non slip covers we had made to pop over to stop this happening. So when travelling they just stay where they are positioned. You will also notice they give you more room inside the van,but you may lose some under the seat storage room.

Some of the single chairs only swivel around,

so make sure if you decide to go this way get the ones that recline back as well.  We got the leather type ones in a black/grey colour harder to see the dirt ,the material covered ones get worn looking fairly quickly from what I have noticed from people who have put them in their RV.

We have 2 recliner chairs also. I agree much better than L shaped seating. Our drivers & passengers seats also swivel to face backwards if we get visitors.

We could have had them in our van when we got it, and really liked them, so comfortable...but they took up too much room, so opted for the cafe bench seats and table. We met a couple that had them in their van, while we were looking in a caravan sales yard. They took us into their van and showed us...it was really nice in their and they looked so comfortable, but it still gave us the impression of taking up room. It may not have taken up anymore room than our table and seats, but it looked like it did.

Dave, how long ago did you get them and can you remember the brand and model? Just had a look on their site but couldn't see any rocker recliners via search or in chairs.

Thanks.

 Thanks for trying Gerty Dancer

I found if you highlight it and right click it will load. Works for me. I'm still thinking about getting one of these myself. I saw pics of them in some one's van and they said they were very comfortable.

Dave just wondering how you overcame the existing holes that would have appeared once you removed the L shaped lounge timber and cloth/leather upholstery ??

Presumably you also had to content with the wheel arches or did you simply box them in ??

We have thought of doing the same thing many times but haven`t made the move yet, so this might give me the impetus to do so...advices please.....Frank

Hi Whiteman, yes there a few holes and wiring, I left all as it was until we got home and then rerouted the wiring under the van, put carpet on the floor with underlay, and some vinyl boards up the walls to hide all the other holes etc, it looks great, and also put carpet over the wheel arches. I would love to post some photos but the clown who did the carpet cut thru the wheel arches and did not tell me and when it rained next the van got heaps of water inside so I had to lift the carpet and reseal the arches
