Have been doing the tourist thing ,for the last four days while staying with family near Mareeba.
Gee time flys when you are having fun.
Went out to what is known as the only pub in QLD where you have to supply your own beer. What a nostalgic time warp this old pub is The Espanol Pub at Lappa Junction.
The bloke who is the patron of the place is called Tim, but he is known as Yappa from Lappa.
The pub was built in the 1900's to service the thirst of the railway workers.
This isn't a pub you can just walk inand order a beer, you have to supply your own.
The bar is open 24hrs 7 days per week every day of the year.
Yappa also keeps snakes, spiders , and bloody big ****roaches in jars out in one of the back rooms.
Also some old beer paraphernalia and some really interesting old railway maps along with very old tools.
The relics he has found around the area combine to give the place a museum feel.
Yappa encourages people to camp over for the night for a gold coin donation, as he is trying to improve the facilities to make the over night stop a little more comfortable for everyone.
There is a drop toilet and BBQs for campers use.But need to be self reliant as no facilities.
