using one keyboard and mouse with 2 computers?

Hi guys, don't know if this is possible

I have a pc and a laptop , I have a wireless keyboard/mouse for the pc

and a wired keyboard and mouse for the laptop, ( so I keep the laptop nice n clean !)

any way, is there a way to share the wireless keyboard and mouse across the laptop and pc?

This wireless keyboard/mouse you speak of, is it Infra-red (IR) or Bluetooth?

Either way, if your laptop supports the same protocol as the keyboard/mouse combo there should not be any issues with using it on both.
If you are running the PC and Laptop together then you will have issues, as it will most likely work on both at the same time, thus what you type will appear on both machines, etc, which could cause you some problems.

If you really need to run both at once, and have immediate access to both at once, I would suggest putting the wired kb on the main PC and the wireless on the Laptop.
Or alternatively, purchasing a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and a bluetooth dongle (if bluetooth not already available in laptop) and doing it that way.

Do you have your computers networked? If so then use something like Synergy "Synergy lets you easily share your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers on your desk." "Simply move your mouse to any computer and start typing. Copy and paste between all of your computers."

If the computers are not networked then use a KVM switch Just type "KVM switch" into a search engine and you will be flooded with any amount of offers.

Have you investigated a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) Switch? Normally they also share the Monitor also but you won't have to. I'm not sure if they have applicable models to suit Wireless devices but worth investigating, especially if your wireless uses USB to connect to the computer. Just Google or Ebay search "KVM Switch".

I use a logitech wireless mouse that is driven by a USB plug in device, it can be swapped between computers and doesn't require programming as the USB bit drives the mouse, from memory it was around $25:00.  what you purchase is a pack, it contains a mouse and a USB drive, it's tiny, just big enough to grip.  Works for me.

If the devices are networked free software from Microsoft Garages called Mouse without borders will run many computers from one mouse and keyboard. I am the fixit guy for a very large extended family and have four computers  1 running XP, 1 running Vista, 1 Win 7 and 1 Win8 all from 1 mouse and keyboard. This is if someone rings me I can turn on the appropriate OS and talk them through the paths and procedures which often varyslightly  between operating systems without cluttering my desk with unnecessary hardware.

Google it, very handy.

Just checked Synergy and it seems to do exactly the same as Mouse without borders.

The trouble with Bluetooth is that each time your connect you need to retype the synchro key, so USB is much easier and better, the software option is also great, but the KVM is good which will cost$. All up many options to solve this little dilemma.

but that might be fine if you have 2 computers, but I have a pc and a laptop,
the laptop has a plugged in wired keyboard and wired mouse.. cause im trying to keep the laptop clean..
just I tried the synergy before but never got it working or connected

But then wouldn't you need to get another keyboard to keep the new keyboard clean too? or am I missing something?
