Powdered Milk

We've used powdered skim milk for years and years. Can't cope with powdered full cream milk (unless it's by the spoonful) or UHT milk. So used to skim milk I can no longer tolerate full cream. We also changed to black tea to make it easier - but still have milk in coffee.smile

We changed to powdered for cost and storage reasons

Do you ever get used to it or do you use UHT?

Just curious what others use.

Use UHT from a storage viewpoint but always have powdered milk for emergencies. Don't like the powdered milk but it is marginally better than no milk.    John

We use both, longlife and powdered. I doing mind either, it's handy to have a bit of both in the van. I use powdered for making white sauce, and cooking longlIfe  for tea and coffee.

Cheers

Used to love powdered milk! But nowadays have to use soy milk, wish they would make a powdered version of that for convenience.

The only milk I drink either in coffee or straight is full cream. I can't handle even the "unleaded" stuff let alone UHT or powdered. I do use powdered milk in my bread recipe.

I don't contaminate my tea with milk (but do coffee) and I don't like margarine so I use proper butter rather than that artificial stuff that's full of numbers.

I do like avocado on my toast and sandwiches instead of butter.

(maybe the avocado is the reason my cholesterol is 3.5)

When I was married previously, all we ever had was powdered milk, I hated it and swore I would never have it again, and I haven't. I would rather have long life milk, than powdered.

I gave up milk in tea too thinking that it might not be easy to get while travelling. And now I really like black tea! In coffee, I have whipped cream in a pressure pack. UHT milk is okay in things where you can't taste it, like smoothies with banana and/or chocolate. I suppose powdered would be okay too for the same reason... or cooking.

I gave up milk back in January when I was crook and they didnt know what was wrong with me. Haven't bothered with it since. One less thing to buy and find somewhere to store it. Before that I used the longlife.
Don't miss it but for coffee I buy the sachets. For tea, I'm enjoying it black.

For long time when I was away from home on the road doing long distant work in the truck I carried in my food supply goodies a tube of Nestle (not Nestl'e before that) condensed milk. It worked a treat not good for breakfast cereal thou. I drink my tea and coffee black now, finding I am enjoying it more. that reminds me it must be time for a cuppa.

Started using Powdered Skim Milk when living up Cape York in '84.  Haven't used anything else since.

Cheers,

Sheba.

No powdered stuff for me unless in cooking, I like the tinned evaporated milk from Aldi when the fresh runs out - it tastes richer but can be watered down, whole or skim.  And like Jim, only the real thing on bread, butter makes it better!

All I ever use is long life milk, usually the 2% stuff as I honestly can't tell the difference between full cream long life or semi skim, yet I can't stand full skim milkdoh

Prior to a trip, I try to remember to grab some of those small long life cartons, as they take up less room in the 18lt Waeco, plus I don't have to worry so much about them standing in hot weather. They've usually long gone before the bacteria start multiplying! And yes, I realise they're expensive, but they can't be beaten for sheer conveniencesmile
