Happens to all of us sooner or later Neil, goes with the ageing process they tell me....  

We went on a six week holiday in the motor home,all packed to go ,departed,arrived at the first destination,turned on the inverter,went to turn on tivo,wheres the controls,wheres the b***y controls.Oh bugga, there at home.Any one who has tivo knows you need the controls to do any thing with it.

First ever shake down trip, 200kms to Alexander Bridge, Blackwood River, WA , just on dark, time to light the campfire and discovered I had no matches or lighter. ( non smoker0

Whilst it's rare for me to forget to pack things, largely due to my extensive check lists, what I do forget is all the things required before leaving a site.  Yes I have a checklist for that too but am usually too impatient to check it.

Things that I have forgotten to do  (almost everything)

- Left one corner steady down (blamed a neighbor who wanted to talk as I was packing up.  Don't they all)

- Forgot to lock down the hitch onto the tow ball.  A passing council worker alerted me to it.  This is where a very heavy       ball weight is an advantage.

- Left the gas HWS on.  Do that a lot.

- Left various hatches up and windows open.  A window blew off coming across the Barkly once.  Temp repairs with duct tape & later a few pop rivets fixed that.

- Left the front window cover up.  It finally fell off just as I came into Warwick from Stanthorpe.  A couple more pop rivets fixed that too.

- left one spring bar attached as I set up & tried to drive the 4WD away

- Not connected the break free wire.

- Left a door mat in the main street of Rathdowney.

- Drove off from home with the power still connected.

Proud to say that I have resisted the temptation & have never left SWMBO behind.

Still need to get $400 together to replace a 4way hatch from the top of the van which went missing from, presumably, forgetting to wind it down before leaving a spot. I used black builders plastic and duct tape for the rest of the trip.

Left a set of steps at Kimba SA Apex Park.

Chain still attached to van when driving off after unhitching.

The odd window left open.

Left plenty of hose connecters on taps.

And last of all, forgot to hand in the security card used to get through the boom gates of a caravan park,...twice. Had to post them back.

And that's my litany of forgetfullness

On the way to Adelaide, several years ago, we forgot to hand back and claim the small deposit for the shower block key at the Madura Pass caravan park (Nullarbor).  Then forgot again that we still had the key in our possession on the way back to our former home in Bunbury.  Finally managed to remember we had the key (we have the memory span of a gnat) and handed it in on another trip back to Adelaide the following year (even got our deposit back  ).
