Many say the Japs (including them) never intended invading Australia, but I reckon that's a lot of codswallop, they were probing and softening us up for invasion IMHO.

I reckon only thing that saved us and changed their minds were the setbacks they had in other theatres and the interruption to their supply lines in other battles......(eg; PNG, Battle of the Coral Sea etc).

Yeah, if the Japs had been successful during WWII, our roads would be full of Toyotas, Nissans and Mitsubishis now, and we'd be watching TV on a Sony! Good grief.

If the Japanese had won, Australia would now be an economic powerhouse. You just need to look at what the Japanese have achieved since WW2 with almost no natural resources, and compare that to what Australia has achieved with the vast majority of the world's resources.

ISTM that all that this country is good for is digging holes in the ground. Now there's a push to hire imported labour to do even that for us. Sometimes I wonder if Australia really did win the war.

Yep, the country would have surged ahead if they had won, with all the cheap white slaves to do all the labour for them.....

But like you and Gary have said, with all the Jap products in Oz you have to wonder who were the winners, Chinese coming in a strong second now.....

I watched Four Corners recently. We have Asian slaves, including children and prisoners, making just about everything for us. Spare a thought for Bangladeshi peasants who work (and die) for $3 per day in appalling conditions to make the garments that our major department stores sell to us for $60 and a lot more. Wouldn't it be interesting if we could organise a group of these workers to confront these stores and demand shoes and shirts for a price that reflects their wages? Maybe that's something for Michael Moore to do (if we can find him these days).

Yes, I watched that too, dam disgusting they way they are exploited by Western countries, with no regard to the work practices and safety of those who make them.  no

I was wondering about Michael Moore too, I wonder if he has been "gagged" or done away with to shut him up....confuse
