Welcome to the forum from us Tomzys. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Newell Hwy is good but be prepared for a lot of trucks.

Nothing wrong the Newell guys. I travel from Echuca frequently going over to Tocumwal up tthrough Finley and up the Newell. I dont travel at night so the trucks are not a worry.
Will be cold along there now
I am heading down, will be at Gilgandra tomorrow night.

Hi Tomzys. Have arrived in Gilgandra and must say I enjoyed my trip down. If you want tomix it up a bit. Come up the Newell to Gilgandra then head up Coonamble, Walgett, Lightening Ridge up to St George and on up.
A very comfortable drive.

If you are going across the Hay plains there is a great free camp at Gum Bend Lake 5 klms out of Condoblin. Hot showers/toilets but no power.

Just been across Hay to Parkes via Lake Cargelligo and Condoblin and is good road all the way except for a small section and very few trucks

Look out for the "Utes in the Paddock" between Condoblin and Parkes... off the road but worth a look.
