My grandson had animal day at kindy/creche the other day and one of those mobile animal farm thingies arrived, photo's where taken of the kids playing and having fun. My daughter asked for copies as did other parents and when I arrived to pick excited grandson up and collect a copy of requested pics on USB stick I was told they can't issue copies as there are other children in the pics. Dur, isn't that supposed to happen in a situation of kid's and animals together?
Mmmmmm, I asked what is the difference between those pics and the class pic taken only a few weeks back? No one had a good explanation. Still no copies and doesn't look good either.

It's all gone wrong Doug - can't take photos of kids (other than your own) without permission, kids being taught "Baa,baa LITTLE Sheep" - no Christmas trees, no Easter eggs or bunnies! No golliwogs, Noddy was homosexual, and Little Red Riding Hood was a story about Paedophilia(?) !!!!! It is a crazy and (in)correct world we live in now!!

Theres some really really BAD people out there, that do really really BAD things to little kids. Thankfully theres really not very many of them, but whatever it takes to make it difficult for them to get pictures of my grandchildren is ok with me. Although I agree it seems ridiculous and is very inconvenient to regular honest folks.
I think it's because we live in the digital age. There was a time when a photograph was copied a few times for friends and rellies. Now you only need one copy to copy it a million times. As Gerty says, there are some dangerous deviates "out there" who get their jollies from ogling little kids. It's also well to be mindful that "out there" can be as close as next door. However, it's a shame when a small minority of people spoil the fun of parents and grandparents like Doug. In this case, I think the pendulum has swung too far.

Happens with most kids sports Doug, including in WA. Young granddaughter plays water polo, but not allowed to take photo's as there may be other kids in the background at the pool! Deviates spoil it for everyone!
And the same applies at our grandkids' school but when son didn't want to sign to give permission for his daughter's photo to go in newsletters etc that was not OK. So it seems we can't take photos of our grandchildren but they can take photos to publish in their school paper or the local paper. Doesn't add up to me.
Seems to be the norm these days, pity though as the kids just love it.
I still find it strange that they still do class photos with full names printed along the bottom but you can't have photos of the kids playing with animals. Oh well, "Thats Life".
Neil and Ruth, I agree, my 5 year old granddaughter has had her photo with full name in the last two school news letters. I'm easy to confuse but I'm confused.

It has gone too far and there is a lot of hysteria. Regulation should be based on evidence.
An Example, In our 'burb there was a really nice old local who walked every day along his same well-trodden route of years. (He did not see this year in. Diabetes etc got him finally.) A couple of years ago one of the schools he passed regularly called the police and had a 'lock-down' because a teacher noticed him as he paused on the pavement at the front of the school. Of course he paused, he was out of breath as usual and he always leaned on his cane looking at the school yard. Memories. Whatever were they thinking of? In another century -make that last Century- someone would have walked over smiling to the frail old gent with a glass of cold water and a folding chair.
