I'm on the maiden voyage with my new Mercedes Sprinter as a pilot vehicle.
Technical details of vehicle: (For the girls and guys who are interested) The rest of you can talk among yourselves, go and make a cuppa or move on to other topics.
Long wheel base, 2.3 litre, turbo diesel 5 cylinder, 5 speed manual, fully fitted out with deep cycle battery and charger, 240 mains power or 2.5 KV A diesel generator, r/c aircon. It's a 2005 model, with 47000 kms on the clock at time of purchase.
The "Mercedes Motel", or "Betty Benz" to our friends (you) beats the hell out of camping outside my vehicle at any time of the year. But that little sacrifice over the last 3 years has earned this little comfort car.
Betty is also an investment into my future travel when I hang up the beacons, wig wags and sign.
I'm going to have the grey water tank removed and install another fuel tank to add to the 75 litres already in it.
Oh, did I mention I'm a little bit proud, and extremely excited to be the owner of this magnificent vehicle. Photos will follow.

Congratulations Chris, now you won't have to stay overnight occasionally at other GN's places between work trips anymore as before, although you may need to park outside overnight now and then to empty your toilet cassette and power recharge.
I see you are parked up in Firefly's driveway at the moment according to FF.

Cograts Chris - so the "spare room" is being put out to pasture, eh? Has served you well, but you will be much more comfortable in Betty Benz for sure - have to spend another night or two at Nindigully together!! Or somewhere - we are heading to the Centre next month, might see you on the road somewhere.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The caravan is still "home" base in Adelaide. Rosy will be relocated to a new owner. It will be hard to part with the vehicle which has served me so well since 2004 for more than 200000 kms. But she's worked very hard to allow me to afford Betty. Just as Rosy has been, Betty will be faithfully serviced and maintained by my regular mechanic. It took a lot of work for the auto-electrician to fit the signage and lighting required to do the job. They all agree it's a great vehicle which has been fitted out very professionally. I won't need a heater. She has a R/C aircon which is run by the diesel genny. I have plans to have some sign writing added when I get back to Adelaide. You'll recognise us by the 2 sets of beacons on the roof.
