howdy all, we stayed at Wallam Creek Camp Ground at Bollon Qld (between cunnamulla & st. george). in may this year. we only planned to stay about 3 days but ended up staying about 9 nights. it is a donation site and all money is going to raise for a defibrilatior for the local bush nurses station. there is one toilet there (disabled friendly & ) and has a tap for topping up the water tanks. At the entrance to the camp ground there is a dump point as well. For causes like this helping the local community it is just great. but what got my goat up was when i was putting our donation of $20 bucks in the money box, this nomad with his nose up in the air said to me , why do you donate to places like this. his comments was i have paid my taxes and they aren't getting a cent outa me. to me people like that just beggers belief. Driving a big flash 4b & 5th wheeler i am sure he could of donated something towards the defibrialtor.
You're right. While we are happy to 'free camp' where possible we also stay at places that require a donation. And we make sure we put in our donation. I was putting our money into donation box at Rocky Creek mem. Park (near Tolga, Nth Qld) when another person camping there said, 'We don't bother. They don't check you know). What an awful attitude!
These type of people just defy all logic ' I don't give a continental ' attitude from people ,regarding a donation it is just so toxic ,yes it is like I drive/ own a $500.000 rig set up and I am above giving a donation to anybody or any thing. Well all I have to say to them is for god sake spend some of your $$$ and get a real life .
