Tomorrow, June 10, marks 50 years since I landed (as a very young girl you understand) in Australia. When I landed the tallest building in Sydney was the AMP building (now known as the OLD AMP building). Nowadays you can't even find it - it's dwarfed by its neighbours. Anyways, as you might have guessed, I'm having some very nice Australian wine to celebrate.
Good on ya Lynda, and I recon we have been better off by having you here too. Don't have too much of that wine , you know what happens when you do..........Enjoy..Sarg.
Thanks for all your kind words. I have had a good day wandering around Airlie Beach. And I've had an adequate amount of wine - and thoroughly enjoyed it too.
Now I'll have to tell them I was a 10 pound pom too! Here's the riddle: I was born in Australia, I moved to England, I came back as a 10 pound pom! (2 days before nomadic1) In those days my Dad discovered that if you had been out of Australia for more than 5 years and resident in a Commonwealth country for at least 3 of them, you could migrate to Australia. Now is that mad or not?
I giggle to think nowadays they'd have him locked up in a detention centre as an illegal immigrant . My Dad came out in 1923 and was never naturalised yet always voted... things have definitely changed.
