My new hobbie Prospecting with a metal detector

Welcome to the forum crocbait. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

PS You'll probably find it better to post in General Forum next time. This is where people post news about their rigs.

Hi Everyone.

I am a new member on this site but have followed it as a guest for a few years, And found some good ideas

I go away quite a bit and like everything outdoors, My latest hobbie is treasure hunting with a metal detector

Havent found to much yet but really enjoying it.

I was hpoing there were a few people on this site with the same interest and willing to share some places they have found or know of in any state

I have just joined a qld based site called dirtfishing.com.au and although its new sounds like a freindly site

Hoping to get some tips from any one with the same interest on this site

Cheers

Crocbait

confuseconfuse Hi Ron and welcome to the forum as an active participant, I have tried a bit of metal detecting when travelling but not with much success I mainly wandered around beaches, I have now given the detector to my Grandchildren who quickly figured out where to find coins on two occasions when we were away with them they found $19 plus and $11 plus around the jumping air bag in the caravan park the eldest of them is nine so that was a good find for them, money used to hire trikes at the C/park winkwink

We met a bloke with a metal detector on a beach, he told us he made quite a bit of money selling the jewellery he found in beaches all around the world.

Hi Crocbait and welcome to the forum.Did a bit of detecting myself a few years back but without success.Gave it away as got quite depressed with not finding anything..Most of my exploration was on the beaches of the NSW coast and some up north around Coffs Harbour area...As Aussie traveller says and I agree someone on this great forum will be able to help...Good luck...Alan,

G'day crocbait.
Don't know anything about prospecting but have been to the Mt. Mulligan area north of Dimbulah and stayed at Kingsborough. The little camping ground there was owned and operated by an ex prospector [ check the excavator bucket if you go there ]. Most of the people staying there were prospectors of some sort and 3 that I spoke to were enthused about going over the area with their detectors.
After the Palmerville affair you would need to be aware of whose property you were on I should think.
