Have started to put our CV's together ready for heading off and working our way around.

To those who have done the same, do potential employers want letters from referees or just a contact name and details?

Cheers.

Just the contact name and number. These days less is more. People haven't got time to read through pages of info. It's no good going back too far in history either. And you might need to have a couple of resumes handy or be able to alter it to suit the job type you are applying for. Keep it relevant to the field you looking at. Good luck with the job hunting .

We have been working/travelling for 2 years now.  We have references (written) for those that ask, but usually only quote contact name and phone number.  Only give the written if asked.  What will help is if you already have a police check to hand.  We are currently in WA, and arranged ours as soon as we arrived.  Most places we have applied to for work have asked for it.

Thanks for the info - plan on heading off early next year - not sure which way yet.  Don't mind what we do, but enough for spending money.

Cheers

Thanks GOOBA53

Yes - have checked it - there are several there that we would be interested in if not for the timing.  A few major family events between now and April that we need to hang around for. We are both trying to hang on in our jobs until Christmas, but the more I read this forum and see what everyone is up to, the harder it gets.

The modern way is to just supply contact details. With everyone having computers now days it is too easy to forge a phoney CV/resume.

Cheers

The jobs on here are so interesting and varied. I love reading them and wondering if will we ever get a chance to try any.

Anyway, have fun with the planning!

We have taken jobs both paid and unpaid from the classifieds on this site.  Even the unpaid jobs are fun.  currently we are living on a property, 30 minutes walk to the beach through a jarrah forrest/national park.  We get our site, power, water, gas and some meals in return for at least 2 hours "pottering around" each day.

No money changes hands, but we save on powered sites in caravan parks, and fuel to get from one free camp to the next, as well as meeting some lovely people
