Not long to go... scary!!!

Well we move out of our rented apartment on 20th June!!

Wow...that went fast! Will be moving into caravan which is residing at a friends house. Will live in van for about 5 weeks before we finish our jobs and head to NZ for a visit and then we are off!! God knows where at this stage!!!confuse

Selling stuff as we can on gumtree and having garage sale this weekend confuse. Then maybe the markets with the left overs the next day!!

So my question to those that have done the sell up thing...what worked best for you? Selling slowly on Gumtree? Should I cough up some money and list on EBay?? The markets any good to sell stuff???

Man... it is beginning to feel real now!!!biggrin

We are going through the same thing at the moment, the only thing I can say is that eBay does not work unless you want to GIVE it away.

All your suggestions will be appreciated.

2 months before putting our house on the  market we had a bit "clearance" garage sale.  Sold lots, did not miss a thing.  After house sale went unconditional, we had an "estate auction" with one of the agents from the agency who sold the house.  Cost us about $700 to agent, who sold EVERYTHING.  Grossed over $10,000.  Nothing was left at the end of the weekend.

We have given most of the big furniture to our kids, the smaller stuff I am selling on eBay, but I have the time to sell this, so it's not too bad. I have made some good sales doing it too.

I gave a lot of stuff away through a site called "freecycle". They are all over the place so there is sure to be one in your local area. Just google it and see what comes up.

Here's a story about a garage sale. When we sold up we had one & a lady bought a dressing table with mirror from us. She had a trailer to take it home so Keith went & got some old - very old pieces of foam (they had been part of the seating in the very old caravan he had just restored) & he packed the foam pieces around the dressing table. Later the lady came back & said Oh I've brought you back your pieces of foam you lent me. we had been just glad to get rid of them. anyway keith said just throw them down on the lawn there. Within 5 minutes a chap came up & offered him $5 ofr them. So definitely one man's junk is another's treasure.
