RE: One for the girls: staying beautiful on the road

I've been quiet too, as the oldest grand-baby has been ill with appendicitis.

I agree with you Gerty, clean and tidy is the main aim on the road, but there are some things I "can't do without".

Ear rings- love them, and keep at least 1 pair hooked into the curtains near the bed (don't lose them that way).

Lipstick and mascara, with a moisturizer and a brush through the hair- keeps me basically presentable.

The only moisturizer I use is sorboline, and yes, walking barefoot on sand is a great heel treatment. I NEVER wear thongs because of what happens to heels.

Although I feel like a minimalist when away in the van, I must say that it is about the only time I ever paint my toenails.

I never go barefoot either Grams. My Mum had the same problem and she had really dry skin too, so I blame it on that. My sister doesn't seem to have the problem, and she has normal/oily skin. Mum used to shove Vaseline into the cracks when they got bad, and wear socks to bed. I've since discovered that Vaseline has petroleum in it, so I prefer to use something with more natural ingredients. I don't get to the beach much to walk on the sand, but I'll keep that in mind Gerty.

I also love my earrings Rosie, but I've lost so many when travelling. What a great idea to put them in the curtains! I'll be using that one in future. wink

I've always been very self conscious about my freckly face. I realised a long time ago that I generally only get compliments when I have my face on. Although, I've never done the heavy duty makeup thing, always subtle. But with so much illness of late, it kind of went by the wayside. Even going to hospital appointments with a bare face! Shock horror!

But I'm now back to 'beautifying'. biggrin Albeit even more subtle. I love the new/old BB cream. It's a bit like the tinted moisturisers, but better. Not as heavy as foundation. And I use a mineral powder for shading etc.

And I've discovered coconut oil is wonderful for my dry skin, particularly in the winter. I slather it all over my body.

Hey Leevin,

Sorry for the delay in responding lol.  It is so damn cold out in my office that I have not been out here much this past week.

I was also going to do massage, remedial and relaxation, manual lymphatic drainage massage, reflexology plus a few others while we were out on the road staying in CPs.

I also make up individual aromatherapy lotions, creams, skin and lip balms, shampoos and conditioners etc being a qualified aromatherapist.

Yes I do think people would be interested for sure smilesmilesmilesmile

Although we do carry a small iron (somewhere) I never use it.

Am I alone in not ironing unless I 100% have to?

Yes, I can a small travel iron but only use it if absolutely necessary. That's the sort of housework I like leaving behind!!

I'm with you Rosie, no ironing if I dont have to. I have no plans of taking an iron with me, I have told Les to make sure he only takes shirts that don't need ironing, or he will have to wear them wrinkled next time...lol.

If you take a washing machine, shouldn't an iron make a matching set?

Only if you put the iron in with the clothes and hope they come out nice and ironed...lol
