I understand that there are standards related issues, but what's the real safety issue? The device has a 10A circuit breaker, so it's not as if you are going to be drawing 15A from the outlet. What claim did the original web page make that differs from the current one?
BTW, Jaycar's web site is down at the moment, so I only have access to this archived page:
So what your saying is that it can't be used to plug your caravan in from a 10 amp household power point to run lights / charger etc
I can't see this being a problem is as long as it's "not used in the rain or exposed to weather" (to quote Jaycar). I use one of these at home and it sits inside the laundry out of the weather and is plugged directly into the laundry power point. My van also has an RCD and all GPOs (techiespeak for power point) are two-pole switched (per legal requirements).
I also use mine around the house when I need the protection of an RCD (techiespeak for "safety switch"), especially when using my electric hedge trimmer.
By comparison the Ampfibian is an all-weather device suitable for outdoor use.
