dont no what your problom is with jayco but last year we also were close to droping our van off at jayco and telling them we want new one
after many phone calls and emails to the place we brought our from ( and i kept every email that was sent )
after many visits to the repair shop we had had anought
in the end i rang jayco (i had done that as well ) but this time i was very assertive and TOLD them that i wanted to talk to the man at the top as i was sick of doing the run around
i was put through to the man at the top i advised him of our troubles he said he would look into an get back to me
HE DID,
every thing that i told him he looked into we had documents for all and he made contact with all involved
we told him we had lost money, time, and holidays due to faults on our van (our van was not even 6 months old )and this went on for at least 9 months
he was very nice and in the end he gave us our 2end service free for all our troubles
MY ATTITUDE was the biggest thing you have to keep calm
but i must say if we had not had the out come we had we would have taken it further

Just go into some of the bloggs and read about the hassles some of the people are having regarding arfter sales service and the things that are going wrong regarding this brand of caravan .I hope they get their act together as word travelles fast via face book twitter and word of mouth.
Then again I have read lots of praise for the warranty support that Jayco provide to their customers, they do sell more vans than all the rest of the manufacturers combined and I have heard it said many times, you get a lot more van for your money than the other makes, they can't be getting it wrong too many times. Cheers David

I would be interested to know what more you get from Jayco ,than you get from any other maker, You only get what you pay for, no caravan company is going to give you anything that is not factored into it's price. I should know i have had a van made by Jayco ,i had no problems with the van, just the arfter sales service let the Name down.
Herbie, I agree that you don't get a better caravan, but you get it a great deal cheaper. We found that the after-sales service was fine, and we used it several times for minor inconvenient problem repairs but the re-sale value dropped sharply.
We bought our 23 ft Jayco second hand its a 2006 sterling after looking a t literaly dozens of other makes and models we decided the sterling had everything we wanted we heard and read some of the stories not only of Jayco but other so called premium brands we have had no problems at all with our Jayco and have nothing but praise for it Brisbane camperland (Jayco Dealers) are excellent and cant do enough to help and we purchased various things from them for our van you can only speak as you find so all you jayco knockers i suggest you look at some of the commments you find on various blogs about every van made in Australia if you can find one brand that has not had major problems you will be very lucky

Earth to botbot - you asked a question, got some replies - do you have a response???????
Edit to add
We have a Jayco Conquest motor home - ok, some small issues, but the after sales service here in Brisbane is pretty good - have now found a private guy, as we are out of warranty - very obliging man.

We have owned three Jayco's, that in itself should tell you something. Every make has its problems so it is a question of degree. I have always found Jayco dealers responsive to any problems we have had, mostly little niggling things which were easily fixed. The Jayco product is manufactured to fit into a "middle of the road" price range and it does this very well.
I hasten to add that I have no connection with the firm just a satisfied user.

Thank you for your comments, I have been away hence the delay in replying. So I am so sorry to Jules as earth has been in contact and it was a simple question "Has anybody ever had the need to take Jayco to the Consumer, Tenancy and Trader Tribunal"? I think it doesn't take much to work out they haven't done the job correctly. I am trying to be fair and this is why I am asking if anybody has had difficulties with them.
Botbot, have you been through the proper channels? Ie dealer first then the manufacturer.still not much info forthcoming .We own a j...o that is 2 yearsold and love the little thing!I don' think that you can buy anything that is perfect no matter who manufactures it or how much you pay for it. John
I believe that regardless of what one chooses to buy, it means that we have already made a decision and agreed to buy it ..
Sure .. we will all front different problems .. some can be rectified under warranty and some can't ..
I just feel that too many apportion blame rather than put the effort in to ensure that you make it "your own" .. I wasn't very happy with many aspects of my purchase,
and the support I received by the dealer was totally unsatisfactory .. I then sourced my own contacts that were/are able to get my vehicle to where I'm content with it and
they are now my first contacts for any future advice ..
This problem is not "brand" specific either .. any unit can have problems ..
I gradually had numerous problems fixed and happy now to have made it my own .. it gives me the comfort of knowing I have the reliability I wanted ..
When I bought my Jayco pop top caravan in 2006 (the price was better than most) the main fault I found was quality control, I think they mainly depend on the consumer to find the faults for them (eg; fumes coming down around the range hood rather than through the side vent, problem was a dividing board between the side of the range hood and vent did not have a hole made in it, so the fumes had nowhere to go).
From my own experience though, Jayco had an excellent after sales warranty and even fixed two things on mine after the warranty had expired when I contacted their head office. I have seen lots of praise for their after sales service on other forums and others I have spoken too. It has been said that they are far better than some who try to avoid warranty issues.

It worked for me !

It all come down what dealer you brought your van from. Some dealers just go out of there way to help you ,where others just couldn't give a rats a... .To them your just another costomer ,in a line of many.Where i brought my Jayco van from was grate during the bying process ,but like many people i have spoken to that's where the niceness stops.
