TV reception

Hi all, we are soon to take off for about 4 months and now find we have to update our box to get the new digital reception. We have always been with Aurora and now find we have to change to VASTA. The new box is around $275.00, but before purchasing anything I am trying to find out is if there is a box that gets our normal digital channels and can also access foxtel, can anyone help with this please?

We have foxtel at home and it is received via cable so we cannot take our foxtel box with us.  We have friends who receive their foxtel via satellite and they take their receiver box with them when they caravan and reckon they get all their channels.  I rang foxtel about what we could do, but they were just so unhelpful and dismissive.no

If anyone has any ideas could they please post.

Thanks all.

In a word...No!

The good news is that the only bit you need to toss away is the Aurora box, everythng else works fine with the VAST box.

Depending what you currently use though you may want to upgrade your Sat Finder to a programmable type to make finding the right sat easier.

Cheers Neil

Vast as you have said will provide you digital free to air tv stations and the box is the same price everywhere. You need to register as a traveler and re register just before each 6 month period, very easy on the internet just leave yourself a diary note to remember to re-register.

Re Foxtel, it uses the same C2 satelite as Vast so once the dish is set up it is only a matter of disconnecting the cable from the vast box and connect it to Foxtel satelite box. We do not have cable up here, all we do is apply for an additional Foxtel box to take away about $14 per month from memory. You will need a dual LNB to use the box that allows recording, the standard black box early one only requires the standard single 10700 LNB which is what we use. Hope this helps, mine works fine to watch mainly NRL footy. Regs  I always set mine up from home to make sure it is all go.  Gazzah Townsville NQ..biggrin
