Possible free overnight stopover in Maclean NSW

An article in today's Grafton Daily Examiner looks promising for the nomad fraternity.

Good on them as Maclean would be a good place to stay .

Good thinkng... and an example to other towns to follow suit. Now all we gotta do is convince the trash merchants to behave themselves.

I passed through Maclean on my way to a meet up at Lawrence and camped by the Clarence River just outside town, as recommended by the local shopkeeper.

The local ranger wanted me to move on but it happened to be census night and the local collector had seen me and advised me that was my address and he would collect the form the next day.

Very grudgingly I was allowed another night. A change of heart in that direction would be good.    John

I often stop at the Ferry Park for lunch or a break, love the area.

There is also a brand new Fredo's Pie place near on the Hwy near Cowper a bit south of the Maclean turnoff that has a lovely picnic spot for travellers who need a break. Many travellers would be familiar with the Fredo's Pies in Kempsey.

Hi John, had to laugh to myself, reading your post regarding the cencus guy ,giving you the thumbs up to you as the Clarence river stop as your official place of abode. You would be the only person in Oz living on the road,at that time in your Hi Ace living the way you want to live, and to have an address co/ of the Clarence River. Maybe you should have tryed that address on your rego / insurance/ licence.Might have give them a head spin.no
