Just starting Newbie

Hi, can anyone give me advice on fitting out a Coaster Van as a Camper. I am situated in Perth WA and would like to know where I can purchase things like a Shower Cubicle with toilet. Which type is best if I intend to not stay where there is power? Also what system would I need for power eg solar panels to (hope I'm not being silly here) to run tv, computer, fridge freezer, microwave, aircond, etc. plumbing for toilet/shower. hot water system.

thank you all

Coastabout

One point to consider is the aircon. It would take a lot of battery power to run an aircon and it would not last long. The current draw is prohibitive.

The rest can be run from solar with a battery bank. A generator would be needed for aircon when static.

Have a look at this site, although it says Marine lots of the products would suit a motorhome.  http://bla.com.au/default/sale-catalogue another company is Coast to Coast

Another website is The CMCA and they have a listing of various stores and companies for parts accessories even full conversions. You don't have to be a member to access these places the link is as follows.

If you check with yeoeleven (see this thread) he can probably help you. He's just spent time doing up a Coaster. As to solar power, sounds like you need lots of solar panels and batteries to run all that stuff. I'll let the more experienced GNs comment on that aspect.

Don't think you can get a 12 Volt Microwave in this country yet Lorraine.  One place had them advertised, but have contacted them a couple of times over the last few years, and they are never in stock.  Would probably draw too much power anyway I would think.

If any-one else has heard differently recently, please let us know.

Cheers,

Sheba.

You will get all your supplies from Camec on welshpool road, the price are not to bad but when you put caravan/motorhome in the equation then the price doubles. Some time household items can be used, maybe a standard 900mm shower base and make your own lamipanel walls. So look at camec, look at say bunnings as a lot will be the same

cheers
