Ceramic heater

We have a ceramic heater for our little van and its suposed to have a thermostat in it, but it does not seem to work , i was wondering if it takes the cold air in the back and heats it ,and its the air going in that it takes the temp from , why i ask the van gets way to hot and it does not turn off

the heater is one of these little floor jobs

and can any one tell me what would be a good heater that does work properly

many thanks

Pretty much any fan heater with a thermostat is good in a small area. As for your ceramic one, it sounds like the thermostat is either not working or the temperature is set too high for it to cut in and out.

The only problem with these type of heaters is that they use a lot of power, I don't think you can run them on a generator, as they draw so much energy.

We have one of these,a Kambrook,  maybe different brands but it works very well with thermo adjust & fan adjust.

1800watts & runs from a 2kva gen.

we have a 1500w ceramic heater and run it on the low setting  - the generator stays on eco cycle at this setting and heats our 20' van very well

We were told you could run everything but the microwave and heater on the generator...so if you can that's great. Thanks for that.

We are currently in Wales and I found a great little heater that runs off the same gas canisters as my little stove. Trouble is I can't find any for sale in Oz. Plenty on UK eBay but they won't deliver to us. To big to go in my luggage, can't fit all the other treasures in. Will keep looking at home.

Why can't you send the heater back home via post.? We did that when in USA ,sent the gear we brought there back via air freight. Also via cargo ship.Took a lot longer to arrive here but it also was a lot cheaper.

The small heaters that run off the small butane canisters have been available from both Rays Camping and BCF, be careful when running these types of heaters in an enclosed space they do generate carbon monoxide.

Running any gas heater in a van is no different to using the gas stove or oven. A couple of windows cracked along with the door vent should provide enough ventilation. Just dont leave them on when you go to bed.
