Survived Heart Surgery.

Well the Chev engine in the cruiser has come through, but only just. If i had known extent of problems at start, may have pulled the plug. The garage was quite scathing of the way the conversions were done.

Had oil leak in front seal, harmonic balancer had to be machined.

Both heads had to be replaced, were warped and cracked, one had started to leak coolant. Engine had been over fueling, and hence over heating.

The studs in the Exhaust manifolds had fused in, so new manifolds required, from Western Aust. They had to be machined to fit.

Aparently the Chev has a combination of 6.5 and 6.2 components, and that caused problems with fitting the new heads to the inlet manifold, and that had to be machined as well.

The power steering pump was replaced, but they use a Ford one now, and had to be modified to fit. Then the pullies would not line up. The belt has allways had a slight squeal, and was made worse. Balancer face had to be machined, to bring everything into line.

So now all fixed and we are off up north as fast as we can.

I know why you want the Chev motor though Brandt, lets just put that down to secret mens business and not tell Spida, mate. Good luck to both of you and thanks heaps for the life long friendship. See ya soon in the playground.

confuseSounds as though it might be to make up for some other male feeling of inadequacy...... I knew I would get a bite out of someonewink Even I commented on the 'purr/growl' of that motor. Just wait until you come across the big bus with Kookaburras painted on the back and 2 Chrome  exhausts up either side of  the back - Chev motor also. Could hear it for miles when it left Burra showgrounds.
