NSW caravan rego interstate

Hi all,

I thought I would share our experience with you all as researching this topic produced all sorts of crap.

We are towing a 19 year old Windsor Statesman with a two door Pajero and loving it.
With NSW caravan rego due in a few weeks and being in NT what do we do?
Online research was contradictory with several advices saying so back to NSW then resume!

All it took was a call to the NSW RTA 132213 (MRA or whatever they are called this week) |
Go to an NT registered caravan inspector, get an inspection certificate, fax it to us with your contatc details and the inspectors details and we'll call you back.
OK, so we went to A-One in Alice springs who fixed a problem with pin 7 on the connector and then they came to the park, spent 20 mins kicking the tyres and checking the VIN and a certificate was produced for $60. After faxing to the the RTA we were just discussing how long to wait and the RTA called back in 15 mins and, after credit card details were produced, it was all done.

Easy, so don't be put off by bad advice. Call the RTA. We were pretty sure we were not the first to have this little problem but the RTA put us right with excellent service. Amazing from a government organisation.

Look out for us on the road, heading from NT towards QLD.

Cheers

Graham & Liz

hi there Jim ..

Yeah mate .. my feet still stay firmly on the ground these days .. shoulda said "lap" eh !!

but definitely still enjoying the r/c flying .. especially out in the donga .. away from the madding crowd ..

Have got a few regos that come in together for convenience, so will seek out wherever necessary in whatever state at the time ..

Jon

(met the Red Baron yesterday too) ..

.. many thanks for the advice Graham & Liz ..

Thats the best and simplest explanation I have seen. It would probably be the same with motorhomes and campers as well and in other states too .. just a matter of a phone call to find out as I'm thinking of going and doing another loop next year and its not something to worry about.

cheers

Jon

With a name like Biggles you're probably thinking of doing some barrel rolls, stall turns, and chandelles as well! winkbiggrin

I  just re rego over the net ,but not having NSW rogo do not need that slip thingo,so even easier to do, Also do the van the same way. i just make sure it is done a few days before they are due.As do not know if there is a waver if over due . The hardest part is rego from one state to the next,so much running around for this and that check and if you happen to be in some flung place where they don't have a ticketed inspection machanic ,it can be an expensive opperation.

I have had inspections done in Qld, Innisfail, and Darwin. The Qld inspection was pretty strict sort of like I was going to register it for the first time in Qld, took a bit of explaining I didn't actually have to produce a gas certificate, just needed the safety side of things done, In Darwin the bloke was more determined to get the dimensions right, don't ask me why.
Both times we have just posted the certificates to our daughter and she takes them to the RTA. easy as...........

In SA we don't have to have inspections. So it is easy just registering our car or van online.
