Dougwe, whats this, sounds like you prefer someone else's scones to mine, i am deeply, deeply hurt , maybe i will have to show a bit more leg as well
You will probably have to buy some warm clothes as well, the nights are getting pretty cool down here, at least i have Mrs. Kiwi-as to keep me warm at night.'

Ok then, You guessed it, I left Townsville on Monday Morning and after arriving in Emerald Q'land I checked out the free camp in town but decided there were too many backpackers and wiz bangs so found a nice CV Park around the corner, much quieter. It was still hot there but lower humidity so that was a relief, few!
Now Tuesday I headed to St George but as I arrived in Roma there was a detour in place yet the sign way back whenever said it was open, so I did a quick check of the map and decided to head for Goondiwindi, I propped the night there, I decided as I was pooped I would just CV Park it again, nice too.
I thought I was lost at one stage as it is only April and found myself injune but eventually I found my way at the end of injune and back on track. Now this place must have big plans for June because it's pretty ordinary during other months.
There where roadworks most of the way and some lengthy hold ups, still, not to worry, no big deal.
Wednesday arrived and I headed for Dubbo but decided it was too early to settle so moved on and came across a nice little CV Park in Peak Hill about half way between Dubbo and Parkes nice too for only $17.00 per night. Now surprisingly this park was called Peak Hill CV Park, fancy that. I know I am set up for free camping but The ones I checked where not nice at all and I don't mind $17.00 it also keeps the economy turning and the nice little parks in business.
The owners were very nice people, friendly and welcoming for the start, their house was attached to the office and as you walked in there to great was a beautiful baking aroma wofting into the office, mmmmmm.
For the first time ever I was ushered to my site and assistants was offered but I declined and he just stayed by in case. After I was on the site he disappeared only to return about 15 minutes later with a lovely young lady holding a basket, they showed me the contents and there were these lovely freshly baked Scones Jam and Cream, now how could I refuse a lovely young lady, the scone was nice too. Yep I only had half a scone as I am a good boy.
Oh! Did I say this was a really nice small family run park, well, it is. Give it a try next time you need a spot.
Now Thursday saw Anzac Day arrive and a few small hold ups as I moved south through towns but no biggy and good to see Country Towns out in force remembering The Anzac's and others of course.
Now I did think of staying put along side the Murray River for a night but I remembered some GN's had recommended the little caravan park in Finley so checked it out and cheap as well $20.00 for the night and all the cabins and amenities block are painted in murals, they look good too, I will send a pic to the board of management for Greens Lake, they might like to do similar there :)
Friday arrived and I called into Shepparton and got a hair cut and a couple of new shirts as the ones I had with me had become too baggy due to the weight I have lost and just looked horrible, good feeling though just the same.
After Shepparton I decided to head to Bendigo area and prop a couple of days, the weather was nice and I haven't stayed in that area for many moons so why not. I parked the car and spent time exploring and what a lovely place and sights,
I will spend more time in this area but SA waits for no one.
After spending a lovely weekend in the Bendigo area and having the Kiwis, Brandt and Lorraine visit Saturday for lunch and afternoon tea the time had come to make tracks for SA so head south I did Sunday arriving in that area late afternoon so I found myself settled for the night and actually, no plan as to when I leave here, lots to see and explore.
I do know I would like to catch up with Golly Molly and her Husband Rod while in that area and I know there is someone else in the Mount Gambier area as well but can't remember who at this stage, a bit of home work is needed on my part for that I think, Oh well, I'll work on that as time goes by.
That brings you up to date but no pics again this week as I have actually been very busy and havent had time to resize etc, sorry.

Hi Doug, good to hear your trip down south has been a successful one. A little cooler down this end of the country, however the up side is there is no humidity. I am in Mt gambier and if you would like to catch up it would be ny pleasure to show you some of the sights we have down south. PM me if you would like to meet up. I also know gollymolly well and know where they are hiding, so could all meet up for a few laughs and a meal. So if you are not too distracted by the many things to explore let me know.

G'Day Doug, we stayed at Peak hill a few months ago just after the new people took over and also we suitably impressed, and we got the hot scones. Did you get an $8 haircut in town? Good Luck Denis
Hi Doug, good read of your travels. You have been keeping the fuel companies happy. Just a thought, are you headed in any way shape or form to the Adelaide area of SA We will be around the area for about a month. So if you can pull yourself away from the Mt Gambie area, would love to see you and anyone else you might have travelling with you.
Safe travels
Brian and Cheryl.

Another good read, Doug. You certainly cover the miles! It's a long way from Townsville to SA. But sounds like you had a ball all the way... and experienced some nice CPs along the way as well. We don't always hear good things about CPs so it's refreshing to read your reports of friendliness and value. And scones, of course. I'm skinny so I would have eaten the bloody lot.
Dougwee, Its hard to catch up with you, what are you doing? Too many Himalayas and valleys to explore, or are they called sink holes? Mt Gambier has plenty.
Looking forward to catching up and will contact Fireheart and then the funs begins.
I am Golly Molly good today but as a women is subject to change, I could be Golly Molly Bad.
Lets organise a pot luck tea.
Cheers Sue

Well had a wonderful day, met up with Dougwe, gollymolly and rod. Many laughs, a lot of exploration, I do have to wonder exactly what Dougwe is up to though, not sure if it is gollymolly, or rod that he fancies. I, the sane one of the group certainly had to keep a tight reign on all of them. I think Dougwe fancies a harem type of environment, maybe the humidity in Townsville did something to his brain! Gotta love his company
Well Doug glad you finally made it all the way to Mt Gambier. I hope it was all you expected and more my friend. Thankyou so much for keeping me in the loop on your journey south. It stopped me from worrying about your travelling so far in such a short time. Now you can relax and enjoy the scenery and the excellent company of good people
Yep - now we all know why he was in such a hurry - you are looking really good Doug - keep up the good work!!!!!! And enjoy your life!!! Now I know why you had such a big grin on your dial up at Greens!!!!! You sly fox, you!
