ANZAC DAY .. over Boomi NSW

The local Hall was filled to capacity for the Service on a perfect day .. an excellent inclusion of the young children was most obvious .. I wish it were like that everywhere ..

These few pics were taken before the parade when little wind was evident .. so only scenic shots .. would have loved to have filmed the 'activities' from above .. alas .. maybe another time !

Hi Jon,

this looks like FPV to me, and given the high quality of the images and the focal length I am guessing you are using a Go Pro HD.

BTW, I use a similar set up on a Skywalker.

The camera sits in a pan and tilt linked to the gogles.

I do not fly FPV, but usually take pasengers, I drive the plane, the pasenger drives the camera. We can get some brilliant footage.

If my guess is wrong, all of the above will make no sense to you at all, and if that is the case I apologise.

Hi Jon, I've noticed you seem pretty fond of Boomi & was curious whether it was home base or if it had improved markedly in the time since I was last there (admittedly around 30 years, lol). In my work with the electricity supplier back then I often had dealings there as well as Mungindi and right across to Glen Innes/Guyra area. Nice people but back then, the town had nothing else going for it.

Hi Darrell ..

sorry  mate .. I missed your post as I'd just taken it off 'subscription' ..

I am enjoying Boomi .. very nice .. still no dumpsite so that will restrict a few. Its reasonably quiet at the moment and days are around 30 with nights about 7 - 9 ..

so .. instead of leaving I've now decided to stay another week .. The locals are wonderful still Darrell and short stopovers by travellers are keeping things moving along nicely ..

Yes mate .. can't promise I'll be leaving in a weeks time either .. It could be semi long term if this keeps up !

The artesian spa and pool is just sooooo gooooooood ! its gotta be a winter bonus eh !

Sounds like I'll have to revisit the past then. It'll be interesting to see how much things have changed

Hi Darrell ..

Yes .. I think you probably would see it in a different light .. but I'm sure you'll enjoy the time here ..

Its quite amazing really .. apart from some new folks I've met, I've also met some old friends as well .. must be the "drawcard" of the artesian waters ..

cheers

Jon

That definitely is a drawcard. I've done Pilliga & Burren Junction, both of which help my back a lot. We have to head south again in a few weeks (medical rather than by choice) so will do our best to test the waters at Boomi. If you're still there, be great to meet you, otherwise something else to look forward to.

Hi Darrell & Sandra ..

If the weather doesn't deteriorate badly then there's a good chance I could still be here .. and it would be great to catch up with you folks.

Have spent some time also at the Gulgong Showgrounds too .. Have friends who live locally and are also members of the HF Radio Club .. They've been there for a long time too, so you could also know them.

Great little camping spot for small groups .. Did some R/C model flying from there with another clubby as well .. great for us boys with our toys ..

Be a very good chance that I'd know them, considering I lived in that great little town for twenty years before we recently sold up to go on the road full time. I still have half my kids living in the area so will normally be visiting there (in summer, lol) each year. Between Sandra & myself we have immediate family (brothers, sisters, kids & grandkids) in every state except Tasmania so we actually have an excuse to travel all over lol
