went to waruma dam, arrived monday with another 2 GN,s got set up, we were told to turn off our Honda genny at 7pm by a very rude man. I have family who use this FREE camp very often and the time the genny,s go off is by 9pm, we were going to be considerate and shut them down at a reasonable time . other people nearer to us said they didnt hear it and we were told he had said at 4.30pm that he would like to throw the genny in the lake, and we were at least 50/60mts away .we left the next morning. too bad our first experience of a GN meet up was like this we don,t think we will go to another one if this man is there, he had a very bad attitude. .. apart from all that the setting at the dam is lovely and worth the trip greyghosts

To; very rude man ------ If we ever meet up at a get together, it would be nice to sit down and discuss the finer points of Gennie Protocol ?? and I will even take my Gennie out for the Demo ?? But do not panic ?? I will turn it off by 9 PM

A great week was spent at Wuruma Dam this week, meeting more grey nomads to add to my list. I must say the dam was very pleasant, very serene and calm. I could have stayed a month easily.
I left yesterday taking my time coming home. Having received a text from BarbandDaz who were coming through Biggy today, the plan was to be home in time. But on getting to Ban Ban Springs I found them parked up for the night so joined them there as well. Lovely dinner and chat to the late hour.
Wuruma is very easy to get to going through Abercorn after Eidsvold. There are many camping spots once at the dam. We chose the first one and spread ourselves around. Very little flat ground so we all had to put blocks under to even up our vans. The lake is full of turtles, redclaw, my very first taste ever, families of ducks. Lots of birdlife, the kookaburras were sitting on a guys knee to be fed.
One chap who was not a member of the grey nomads, caught a barramundi the day before I left, quite a large one by the span of his hands stretched out.
First photo is of me at Ban Ban Springs, only because I have to resize all the others.
I came home via the Cynthia Range which cut 17 ks of the return trip not having to go way out to Abercorn. A dirt road all the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the run. No traffic so I was able to mosey along at 60kph and admire the views down the valleys. Sheba did you go that way too and did you go the Mt Perry Road? I did see the turnoff and hoped you had found it.
Welcome back HW. We've already viewed some photos of you relaxing - but they hadn't been re-sized - and you certainly look as if you were having a lovely time. Glad you met more GNs.
Such a shame your visit was spoilt by that grouchy man greyghosts. Some people get really paranoid about gennies, but I usually find them fairly quiet.
It really was a wonderful place to camp Janette. Nothing unforunate affected my time there as I knew nothing about it till the next day. I came away from Wuruma totally devoid of any stress, pity some of the others didn't go there with the right frame of mind.

Perhaps some commenting above could remember that there are two sides to every story. We'd also stayed there the previous weekend at which time we heard no generators after 7.30pm. We weren't at the dam but we do use a genny as we don't have solar - but we only use it from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. We were recently at a 'free' camp where at least 5 gennys were being run each night (and when washing machines were used) but they were hardly heard if placed in the right place. We always tell others we have a genny if they camp close. Pity it becomes such an issue. Asking what time it would be turned off may have been better than saying it had to be turned off by 7pm.
Seems like some one needs a reality check. Hope he was not a member here as even though I have full solar I think that 9:00 is reasonable for a generator. When they run the old clankers all night I get a bit upset, but if I don't like it I move I don't ask anyone else to modify their behavior for me. I have wheels and if I don't like where I am I move on, besides I prefer to camp on my own or away from others as I like to cook outside and sit under the awning and some don't like having a fire near their van anyhow. I went that way Marj. Somewhere along that road is the Cow mailbox. I'll have to get it another time. Didn't want to turn around and go back, but probably should have. Went through Mt.Perry. The show was just finishing up as I went past the Showgrounds.
Just wanted to make sure I got to Gin Gin before dark. I was a bit surprised at the number of Motorhomes and Caravans travelling those roads. Didn't think there would be quite that many.
