If you can, park your van somewhere, go to visit the Apostles in the vehicle. There are places to pull off the road further along and see other formations and it is difficult to go with the van hooked on. This was our experience anyway. Johanna beach is a good free park. The Ottways are absolutely stunning. Koalas in the trees near the Lighthouse. Enjoy.

We did the G O R last year and stayed at The caravan park at Port Campbell. A very nice park, undergoing re-furbishment. At most if not all touristy points there is off road parking. If you can possibly afford it, take a chopper ride over the coast. It was the highlight of our trip. Andy
We liked the Princetown caravan park. Left the van there and drove all over the place. Great view from the site, nice walk along the boardwalk in the Gellibrand wetlands, beach,, all this plus a good meal at the pub across the road.
When we did the G/ O Road starting at Warrnambool a worthy destination in it's own right.Miles of gorgous beaches, Lake Petrobe and the Merri river which passes through the town. After Warrnambool there is Allansford and Nirranda, We turned off the G/ R road and headed onto the Childers Cove road just past just past Allansford and headed for the picturesque Childers Cove, home to the of wreck of the tall ship Children, which was wrecked in 1839. The Bay of Islands stretches for 32k along the coast to Peterborough. After leaving The Bay Of Ilands one track worth doing is to the Captains Car Park , a walk from c/ park leads to the most beautiful white sandy beach , when we were there we had the whole beach to our self.t is ringed by green hills that protect the beach from the road above. It is a hidden treasure. The Grotto and London Bridge are next major attractions, not far from hear is Port Campbell N/ Park and the twelve Apostles Coastel Park about 11ks is the turn off . We took the Helicopter tour from this point. The twelve Apostles used to be named the Sow and Piglets , the name change was due to it being seen as being more dignified name. From Princetown , the G/O Road heads inland and into the beautiful ancient rainforest and rolling hills of the Dairy farmlands. At Lavers Hill the road heads south and then east ahain, as you head into the Great Otway National Park. This park offers a whole lot of. activities and attractions, Apollo Bay is where the road meets the sea again from hear the road hugs the coast as it heads towards Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea, and beyond. For a single road the G/ O Road covers diverse and Changerable landscapes, We stayed at the Cumberland campsite / Kennett Campsite and the Wye River campsie.all are c/ van friendly. There is also seven camp sites but these can only be accessed by walking into.Hope you enjoy your stay in the area..a beautiful place to just hang around awhile .We did lots of off shoots to other cute little village type towns around there also ..Simpson /Terang/ Cobdom/..are just a few i can remember at moment....Just be awear it can get damn cold around that area from now until about November.
