Having travelled the majority of highways in the country and Highway one many times I can only agree that the Bruce highway is by far the worst and most dangerous. Just a thought what would happen if one of the families who had somebody killed on this highway took legal action for negligence against government, it would certainly be interesting and may mean that politicians may be held responsible for once in their life.

The evidence speaks for itself that this would have to be amongst the worst. I avoid the Bruce/Pacific where possible but do regularly travel the Bruce north of Rocky. One (of many) of the biggest dangers is that many of the passing lanes are too short for safety.
The road works are annoying but if they weren't happening we'd have even more reason to complain. Unfortunately you can't "cook an omelette without breaking eggs".
Regarding the maintance being undertaken on the Bruce Highway it is in part due to the lack of maintance over the years and the floods did the rest. But in a lot of places they are still only really doing a quick make over, another flood and we are back to where it was before. Also a lot to do with the golden $.I can see, not too far down the track we will all be paying some kind of toll to fund road works on this highway,as the cost for just 1klm of road contruction is over a million dollars. And as the tax we pay on fuel goes every where other than on what it was set up to do , i can see no other way to fund this never ending repair on this most dangerouse stretch of Highway.
