I have been using Comodo Internet Security (the free version) for a long time now and am happy to recommend it.
haven't had an attack get through since i started using it.

Make sure you download the free version, although the paid one is only $20 anyway...

I find the big thing with Crap Cleaner is that it will often delete the unwanted files before they install, as many of them hide and wait till you reboot, hence my suggestion that you run CC before you shut down.

Just another part of my overall protection scheme.
