You should make that your personal challenge ! .. then you can let us all know your secret ..
Hand launching is no problem but landing at night (without wheels) is a problem ..
For your info Peter, one tends to fly in 2 and 3 dimensional aspects .. You watch your plane flying directly above you in the clear sky .. thats easy .. its 2D ..
bringing it in to land between you and a tree needs a 3D consideration .. Fine in the daylight, but without depth perception at night .. well .. I'm just guessing eh !
It can be difficult enough with long shadows at sunset ..
For any time of the day or night, I use kites to lift the camera, but night aerial photography is very tricky due the low shutter speed of the camera causing blur. Have to manually set a higher speed and aperture and then pray for a keeper.
Cheers

Kites would be a safer option I think too .. I'm new to the video side of this and enjoying the learning curve.
The photos were extracted from a very jumpy vid taken in winds up to 18 kph from a glider .. not something I'm ready to try at night just yet, but the end objective could be quite delightful !
