I have one, same year, our van is only 2100kg, then when you add all your personal stuff inside the van and the car it brings it to 2500kg which is its maximum weight it can pull.
So look for a caravan 2100kg and less nothing over this weight, not even by 40-60kg.
Our Prado is fine towing 1900kgs, but we wouldn't want to be facing a long hill with 2500kgs to pull. It would probably get you there, but very slowly, and the traffic behind wouldn't like that at all.
Look at a bigger tug for the caravan you mentioned.
We had a 2005 Prado 3Lt diesel, towingg a Jayco Heritage tandem of that weight.
Whilst it "seemed" to tow it with ease on the flat at 100kph, it had nothing left in reserve, even slight gradients knocked performance off.
If you should happen upon another slower vehicle and wanted to pass, a request for ten km's of straight road would be high on the list, with no oncoming vehicles.
Comfort, legendary Toyota reliability, etc. no problem.
Just not up to it when towing near its maximum capacity, also heavy on fuel for a diesel.
We are in the process of selling our Pajero NS which has a towing capacity of 2500kgs. The van comes in at 2100kgs and by the time we fill it for long trem travelling we are right on the limit. That is the reason we are changing to a Mazda BT 50 with 3500kgs capacity. As said above we also lost power on inclines.
