What used to be free camps isn't anymore !!!

Lake Indoon along the Eneabba-Coolimba rd to Leeman in WA used to be free last time we stayed there, but now i notice it is $20 per night now.( no showers so i think it is not worth it ) only my take on the subject .)

The other free stop over that you pay for now is Hamelin Pool in WA off the Brand Highway south of Gero.$5 per night now.

Hi Herbie
just check the new Camps 7 and Lake Indoon is shown as fees and showers. As your post is very recent is it worth notifying Camps 7 to allow updating? Couldn't find an entry for Hamelin Pool.

That's ridiculous. If it's free camping then I could understand no showers or toilet blocks. But if they want money then they need to offer services for their fee.

If there's showers, fresh water and a dump point then $20 isn't too bad I guess if it was an emergency.

.. I quite enjoy free-camping without facilities .. tends to provide a little more exclusivity .. and still many places around .. (which you won't find in "Camps")

Not all locations are passed "over the counter" or to Clubs seeking this info .. not at all .. word of mouth between good friends is the way ! Its nice to be able to return occasionally and find little has changed.

We just spent 2 days Free Camping (from 05/Feb/2015) at Lake Indoon and meet another couple there who had been there for six days. The camp prices at the entry sign have been blanked out probably I suppose because the lake is DRY so currently its free again.

The gounds and toilets are being maintained by the local council including regular rubbish collection.  There are showers but they use the bore water from the windmill.  There's a large concrete water tank by the toilet block with a sign on it saying "Water suitable for drinking" the other couple said they talked with the council crew who told them "town water is trucked as needed to fill the tank", we didn't try the water but it looked clear enough.

With the lake so dry it did give me a chance to chuck up my model plane, was a bit windy though and now have some repairs to do, but had fun.
