Advise on Free camps around Mt Gambier SA

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, we are seeking advice on free camp around Mt Gambier.  We have camps 7 book but if any GN's can advise which one is best would be much appreciated.  Will be there tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon if anyone else is about.  Thanks in advance.

Don't know of any in the mount but if you're heading towards adelaide there are free camps available in kingston on the way to adelaide.

In Mount Gambier there are not many. There is a nice one at Dartmoor about 40mins away. The showgrounds offer a little amount, only 9max at one time, there is another one near Mt Schank which is about 15 mins out of town towards Pt Macdonnell, it is off the main road. Don't know of any others, however the nicest CP, and probably best value for money would be the Kalgani CP. Lovely setting, clean and well maintained. Not a big one so quite personal. If you would like to PM me I live in the Mount and would love to catch up.

Oh Dartmoor is on the Victorian side of the border so depends on which way to are coming from. There has also been an old car and caravan here since Easter moving from spot to another around town. WA plates, it is funny because when I go for my morning walk he is parked in another car park.

Mt Schank reserve is a good spot for overnight free camp, with toilet and not far from town, limited spots, so get there reasonably early, also a nice walk around the rim of  volcano.

Thanks for the info, looking at Camps 7 a free camp south of Mt Gambier called Little Blue lakes seems to be the one we might use. We are coming from Warnambool and will eventually work our way up towards Adelade.

Fireheart if you are free the kettle will be hot, I'd expect we will be there by about 3pm. We'll be in a Jayco Heritage and Nissan Patrol as the tug.

This will be day 1 of our big lap and would love to catch up with as many GN's as we can. Be prepared to have your brains picked for any useful hints and tricks though. lol

Little blue lake  park is bare dirt and rock and fairly open with a breeze and no toilet but I have stayed there when Mt Schank was full, fairly quite, not a lot of traffic, all in all not a bad spot for an overnight free camp.
