I have an 04 Pajero DiD Auto & tow an 17.5ft Millard Pop Top, Tare 1400kg, loaded about 1700kg,

Tows my Millard easily, but keep in mind that model Pajero has a 2500kg towing capacity ( maybe just for Auto's ! )

Pajero has been all good so far.

Bill, I have a 2007 Pajero SWB which tows a 22'6" van with ease. Your Mitsubishi dealer will have a modification to the spare wheel carrier that lifts it a few centimetres. We had this done and have no problems with the door clearing the tow ball. Our Pajero has given us excellent service over many towing kilometres. Don't know much about a Winterhoff hitch, but no prob;ems with the Hayman- Reese.

I have a 2007 Pajero. I put a Hyland hitch on the van and the back door opens now. The hitch also seems to give a bit more stability when towing.
As far as the van goes, bloody rippa

I have added airman bags and replaced the springs, but how do I get this legalized

Hi Michael...what is the ATM of your van? Above 2500kg ATM the Pajero cannot have a towball weight of more than 180kg.If your 265kg towball weight is the generally accepted 10% of ATM,you have big problems. If you can advise what your van ATM is,we may be able to help you.Cheers

P.S You can NEVER have 265kg ball weight on a Pajero as maximum ball weight is 250kg if the van ATM is 2500kg or less, and 180kg if ATM is above 2500kg.

There is a lot more to it than upgraded suspension. It's the whole car. Towbar, towbar attach points and body construction that a manufacturer looks at when setting a vehicles tow ball load capacity. No upgrades for that I'm afraid. As yobarr has stated with a Pajero 250kgs is the maximum and only if you are towing no more than 2500kgs. If your van is over that, then do what I did and swap the Pajero for something that will handle it, in my case a Ranger. Loved the Paj but had to face reality. It just could not tow my new van legally. The Ranger has turned out to be an extremely capable tow vehicle so pleased I bit the bullet and swapped.

Hi Greg.....Great to see that you are happy with the  Ranger, which is the best of the lightweights,in my opinion.Cheers
