Winter Heat

Milo was asking in the I digress about gas or electric for winter heating.

I have been toying with buying a Bio-Ethanol Heater for my RV and was weighing up the Pro's and cons.

Totally portable and produce aprox the equivalent of two candle burning of CO2.

Not a big problem with some ventilation in an RV.

Open flame is the worst downside and a safe place to use is important of course.

I have added a link which will give anyone more info.

Of course I have no affiliation with any company selling these.

It's just FYI.

Thanks for the link Yuglamron. Sounds good except it looks as if it needs to be built into a wall?
A much better price than a diesel heater!

No don't need building in, lots of models that are free standing can just place on a table etc.

In other words it is fired by Metho which is 99% ethanol.

I once had a camping stove that used this fuel.   I think that one may need something producing more heat in winter.

Does anybody know where you buy bio ethanol and what the price is?

Someone said on the other thread it is only another name for Metho, same as used in Metho stoves.

Camping stores sell it but it is much cheaper (half the price) in places like Bunnings and I found it no different to the camping stores one.

I used it in my camping stove.  Metho can be put out with water in an emergency.

All hardware stores sell it and also some of the supermarkets.

Trevor, like I said in the other thread for others info, I saw one of the round ones shown on your link being used outside by a tenter as a sit around fire, looked warm and inviting but not sure how much heat they were getting off it.
