Hi folks ..

I've been in touch with our host Cindy in discussion of the possibilty of placing audio files in a post which could quite enhance our general useage ..

Have now been told that now (after tech adjustment) that it should be possible with files no larger than 2 MB .. as we know, many music files will be of a much greater size but I would like to see how it goes starting small .. also I will now look into possibilities of file reduction as well .. lotsa GN techs in here that might be able to add to that idea ..

will now attempt a connection to upload an mp3 ..

well ..

It seemed to work all ok here .. uploading was easy .. sound was ok ..

Remember .. as elsewhere on the internet, once you click on the link, the file will first be uploaded to your computer before it will begin playing .. so give it that time ..

with thanks

Jon

Hey Biggles just thought I would let you know that I was able to open your attachment and listen to Johnny Cash, so it worked a treat.

Interesting concept, maybe people like Brett AKA Shogun can post some of his radio stuff online.

Not sure about the accoustics down a certain wombat's burrow though.

.. thanks Trevor ..

It does open up a lot of possibilities .. one of the big things that would need close scrutiny, would be copyright abuse ..

.. and of course the limitation of the 2MB allowance will keep file size small  ..

I found a good mp3 file compressor (freeware) which seems to be ok .. but one could even put up a few spoken words if they so choose ..

It may not be real-time .. but could be fun ..

Imagine hearing the voice of Wombat from the bowels of the earth .. !

Wow, jon, they are beautiful songs. Certainly brings back lots of memories. Oldies but goodies. You have a wonderful voice. Well done. I can remember dancing with my Dad to some of those songs at the old time dances that use to be held in the area. :)

I just love your songs Jon but for some reason I was given some on a memory stick and copied to my laptop and they won't copy to my iTunes so I can put them on my iPod, bugger.

Hi Chris ..

Love the oldies too .. Have a lot of tunes up til 2000, but have only just recently had my own CD done in a studio .. not much on my bucket-list but that was a priority ..

a great experience ..

thanks

Jon

Hi Sharon ..

and thanks for your nice comments too! I've had some really pleasant remarks which is nice to hear ..

I've got some songs that your Grandpa was probably dancing to as well .. not really a "SNAG" singer, am I .. ha !

but a happy one ..

great to hear many of those songs as I used to play them when I played in a 40/60 dance band doing all the old country dances.

Still better than the new so called music.

Thanks Jon I might have to get the horn out this weekend and blow the cobwebs out LOL

Regards
Brian

As you know Jon, I have your songs on my laptop and I can play them on there, but I'm totally out of my depth from there. haha

I'll have to get one of the younguns to show me how to load music onto the smartphone now, so I can play them while I'm driving. Then I can do away with discs in the car.

Good job! smile
