It seems that most GN's are fairly tech savvy so I thought I might share a couple of things. Apologies in advance if you already know this.
I find reading a problem with my poor eyesight so have augmented things with audio - thankfully the ears are still working ok.
1) Spoken books https://catalog.librivox.org/ download to your computer in MP3 format. They are not huge files but be sure to keep an eye you don't over-do your internet bandwidth. The books can be downloaded for free because they are out of copyright (old) titles AND they are transcribed by volunteers. On this site feel free to play with the search options and get to know it as it can be a little clunky.
2) PODcasts these are free internet radio which you might have to search for yourselves as there are too many topics and interests to list here. Again these download in MP3 format to your computer. A few that I listen to are:-
http://www.abc.net.au/science/starstuff/ This is an Australian astronomy cast.
http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/ This is a UK BBC radio weekly science cast.
http://www.skepticzone.tv/ An Australian fact based critical thinking cast.
http://www.abc.net.au/rural/breakfast/ An ABC radio National rural information cast.
There are literally hundreds to choose from so have a search around for subjects that interest you - fishing, camping, survivalism, aviation, cooking, camping, sailing...etc you get the idea.
Enjoy, but remember to keep an eye on your bandwidth or maybe get a relative to download at their home for you and mail a USB stick to you from time to time.
