Just to clarify the position. I have just spoken to Lynton Auld, the Landcare Services Manager at Dubbo City Council. He says the Terramungamine Reserve has been restricted to one night camping for the past six months. It remains free. He says the new restrictions were introduced because the previous three-night camping rule was being abused by some travellers. Apparently the reserve is an extremely popular place and the council says it wanted to ensure everyone had a chance to stay there. Mr Auld says for people wishing to stay longer in the Dubbo area, there are gold coin donation camping opportunities at nearby Eumungerie Recreation Reserve north of Dubbo, and at Toongi Reserve Hall to the south. He says the council has stepped up its policing of the reserve but the one-night rule has largely been well respected. He confirms that there is not likely to be a change to this situation in the foreseeable future, and says any changes would be well signposted and publicised.
