Having had a very interesting conversation with a certain Avanner whom shall remain namless, (dougwe), oops sorry the gremlins are at the keyboard again, talking about about the need to have items with you on the road that can double up with two or more uses. Well I have found another use for a pair of tongs, last night it was very cold and as I am height challenged to a degree, I could not reach the A/C controls to put them on heat rather then cool. Thinking and thinking, and being too lazy to go outside in the rain to get the stool, I decided a pair of tongs was just what was needed as arm extensions. Brilliant.
So, tongs can be taken. Gravy is a must from thickening a good stew with taste, itchy feet, and even a sauce for a good roast.
What other things do you have with you that have more than one use and are a must for any GN.

4WD with a ford ranger. The possibilities are endless.
Trust a woman to think of using tongs as a switch reacher. On the other hand, it was a woman who invented another use for the rolling pin. Hehe. I can't think of one at the mo but I'll watch this thread with interest.
The little foot stool our son made in high school. Just the right height for hubby to zip the annexe on, then it can be used as a footstool, coffee table or to hold the bulk water container to access its tap.
I always make sure I have a wide-tooth Comb with me in the 'Van. Can hook the first tooth into the hole in the Zipper catch, to open and close the windows when the Pop-top is up. Works like a dream.

Microwave rice cooker - use the bowl for mixing bread, cakes etc., as well as rice of course! Little foot stool in invaluable, being very vertically challenged, have two of different heights, very handy indeed. Baby wipes - quick wash if in a hurry, clean up spills on clothing, cooling wipe in the heat.

A knife comes in handy when Les decides to use my household screwdrivers, and they get lost in the man cave. I use standard knives for normal screws, and the steak knives for the tiny screws. It works wonders....
Now I have my own toolboxes full of my own tools, that I hide so they too don't disappear for ever in that man cave. Whatever goes in never comes out...though he now has 2 years to empty it, I can only imagine what he will find lol
This is not my idea but someone somewhere mentioned having two solar shower bags, one for spare hot water for laundry or dishes. Just leave it lying around till needed during the day. Pretty nifty idea for extra hot water - free!
-our step is a storage box for ropes, tent pegs, hose fittings, de-flappers, hammer -lap-top - access to the forum and keep in touch with family/friends -o'h and of course the husband- though probably not the right place to mention some of his uses

1) its a 3 way fridge 2) turn it up, its a freezer 3) run out of gas, or can't find the 12 volt cord (again), fill it with ice - its an esky. 4) close the lid, its a table 5) sit on it, its a seat. 6) once its cleaned out after the trip, its a storage unit 7) and (I'll kill anyone who does it again) it a fish cleaning table.
