Does any one have or recomend we have the new van protected with Vantec? i am reluctent due to being inthe car panel beating we had a thing cauld Ming Finnish but all it was was a expensive polish a good polish but very expensive. She who must be obayed would like it done @ a cost of $1500 so not cheep any coments would be aprecated
We took delivery of our van in Nov 2008. Vantec was offered and I was sceptial too - particularly due to the "ming/car" treatment stuff I had heard of from, again, others who were car enthusiasts and had hoped to "better protect" their love.
After talking to some others who had had Vantec done they referred me to, I decided to give it a try as I travel full-time and the van is never under any cover and out in all weathers.
It is now nearly four years since it was done. I can still just wash the van with plain water and all the muck comes right off - not tar etc, but bugs and dirt etc. The van looks like new with just plain water.
When I give it a good wash about twice a year with the Wash & Wax I use on both the vehicle and van, it actually gleams.
It is a few quid to have done - but if ya gonna have the van out in the weather all the time, I think it is well worth it. I think the reason it works perhaps, is that car duco is much tougher and different to the "material" caravans are made of.
If the van is gonna be 'stored/garaged' rather than on the road/exposed full-time perhaps it may not be as valuable to have done.
Cheers - John

Get the interior fabric scotch- garded, either DIY with spray cans or professionally. Then convince your significant other that modern van coatings are designed to resist UV and other airborne contaminants.
If need be, I am sure you would get a lot of change from $1500 if a professional detail is required down the track....
Don't forget that the dealer will be keeping a significant amount of that $1500, it wont reflect the cost of the materials used.

Gday...
I didn't bother with the interior - I agree, Scotchguard would be just as good, maybe better, who knows.
However, the outside of the van has withstood living in the great outdoors exceptionally well. But I agree it is the choice of each individual.
Regarding the "dealer keeping a significant amount of the $1,500" - I dealt direct with Vantec .... dealer had no involvement.
