Went to the Casino RV Village today after being told that the dump point at the Casino Showgrounds was too boggy. Character with grin on his face said 'No, it's not a public dump point. No, CMCA members can't dump, you have to book in for a night - $35!!** - to use the dump point. Yes, the showground dump point is very boggy.'
I'd like to have wiped the grin off his face but John wouldn't let me!!! No apologetic 'Sorry, but...', just the complacent grin...
We subsequently checked the showgrounds and found that they were quite OK.
If anyone is looking to spend any time - a night or a week - in Casino, I strongly suggest that you avoid the Casino Village; try the Glen Villa CP, on the Bruxner Highway at the eastern edge of Casino; it's clean, quiet, $25/ night or $120/week, and the managers are very accommodating - lovely people!
Andrea (still fuming!!)
**Actually only $31, or $26 non-drive-thru, according to their web site...

I also did not re new my big4 or top tourist member ship ,as i done the number thingo and the restrictions of use ( their terms ) was no value to me and a lot of these big chain c/ parks jack the price up to cover the discount they give you and in most cases the c/ park down the road from the big name one is cheaper than the big chain c/ park with out the discount. While you add the fee charge for this discount card it adds up not to be such a good discount. Also if there is not one og the big chain c/ parks in the area you are in it is un useable anyway...

I find hard to believe that some one would roll up to a caravan park and expect the operator to give them free passage to their park to dump their waste . Maybe you might like every Tom ,Dick and Harry to drop into your place to drop there waste

I have never and would not ever expect to just rock into a c/ park and then expect to be able to dump my toilet down their dump point.Even if it was free or charged for, i just would not feel good about it. That maybe just me , but cannot change old habits i guess.

Since this park is owned by CMCA I would have thought that members would have been able to use the dump point without having to stay.
I have stayed there and found it an excellent park, at which you could take part in the Village activities each day, but it seems now that Big4 are managing the park, prices have jumped and service has gone done, which is a pity.

Sometime back I called past the local B4 on the river in Geelong and asked what they would charge to use their dump point.
They asked if I was a big 4 member to which I dragged out my card.. No problem sir its our policy to allow our members to use the Dumpoint free of charge.. call back anytime you need to. No charge and no hassle..
I had thought they ment its a Big 4 policy perhaps its was just their own.
cheers

It seems weird to me that the CMCA are very strongly working for free camp sites and dump points for public use, but they own an expensive caravan park at which their own members cant use the dump point.
Long time no see you two Andrea ! We last met at Wattle Grove CP in WA a couple of years back, hope the travelling/house sitting is going well. Also met around the same time at the WA GN Get Together at Fast Eddy's in Cannington....
Yes I dumped Big 4 some time back, for the price not much value for those who don't need the bells and whistles (eg; swimming pools, kids playgrounds etc).
As a matter of interest, the only dump point for Casino I could find on this list was the showground & racecourse;
But they're not charging $35 for use of the dump point. They are charging for the stay over night. With that stay over night gives you the right to their dumping facilities. It's their business and they have the right to run it however they want. If they want someone to book in for the night that is certainly their prerogative.
If it were my business I'd probably let people use just the dumping facilities for a nominal fee, but for whatever reason they don't want to do that. So be it, one just moves on. I just don't see the sense in getting upset over it.
You are entitled to have it and it often raises worthwhile debate. The best thing is people can either respond OR just read it and do nothing.
Don't stop posting.
Maybe the issue you raised is due to poor OVERALL SERVICE AND ATTITUDE which seems to be a real problem in the service industry across the country ,,, especially if you are over 50 OR different???????
my 2 cents worth,,,, I dumped Big4 and the other one too

Gordon it not only about dumping at a price , If I was staying in a park I would not want to have a trail of people wandering in the quite park which I had paid money to stay in dumping there waste if you have a waste problem you need to plan your dumping a bit better
We went to the park because we'd been told that the dump was still a public dump point.
We were also quite willing to pay for the 'privilege' of leaving our waste in their care, on being told that it was not a public facility.
What we really did not appreciate was the requirement for a full night's accommodation cost, and - even more - the supercilious, smarmy grin on the receptionist's face.
And as far as I'm aware, the CMCA no longer has any ties with the park.
Sorry if my beef goes against the grain, everyone; enough said, I'm backing out!

G'day Andrea, please dont feel intimidated simply because you raised an issue that was quite rightly important to you, and a few predictable testy comments come your way....by raising issues we can all identify and learn from them...that's surely what this forum is all about.....everyone does not have to agree with every issue raised by each member, but I take exception when posters feel intimidated and may not post if they get 'dive bombed' almost immediately....I learn or take something from every post made on here...so I urge everyone to keep posting even if you think you wont be popular or your "beef is likely to go against the grain"...I feel the difference between this forum and generally raising a gripe or problem with non members of this fraternity is: 40% dont care and 60% are usually glad you have a problem....but on this forum the majority of folk do generally care because they can identify with you, listen, and try and make positive contributions....I for one want to know when you are 'dumped' for wanting to 'dump' for a reasonable/realistic fee....that may well be me in the next week or month..and when you have to dump you have to dump...no good redlining on the level as it invariably comes back to greet you..Lol......Hoo Roo

Hi, Vic - yes, we enjoyed meeting up with you and the others at Fast Eddy's. We've been in the east since January last year, looks like we won't be back your way for another year or so yet. John had a mini-stroke last year and is to get a hip replacement this year. When are you coming east? smile That dump point at the showgrounds was where we'd planned to go until we were warned by a local bloke (who'd 'been there yesterday') that we'd get bogged, and was where we ended up, after checking first in the Mazda to see whether the warning was accurate. The same local bloke told us that the Village dump was a public one.cry The showgrounds turned out to be quite OK! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for the support, GDN - I was just a little surprised at a couple of the comments, but I agree that this is still the best forum around, with a lot of great members.

I agree, please don't be offended, we are a friendly forum.
I agree -don't be offended by a few who have their own ideas - we are all entitled to them - and I reckon you had a right to be miffed when they wanted you to pay for a nights accommodation, when all you wanted was to dump your loo. A simple, "no, sorry not for the public, there is one at the showgrounds" would have sufficed.
Enjoy your time on the forum - we are a fun lot really!!!!

Glad it was ok Andrea after all, bum steers don't help much, but all ended well. On a fairly recent solo trip in a popular holiday spot in the south west, a TT cp wanted to charge me $42 for an unpowered tent site (one person) because it was school holidays, the lady in there also had that "sneer".....needless to say I didnt stay there. I didn't tell her but I was a current TT member, but still would have been dear less the 10%....
Sorry to hear about John's mini-stroke and later hip replacement, Carol has a knee op coming up not sure when yet.
I don't think I will be heading east anymore, will just stick to WA in future, things catching up with me. I still remember having a look inside your 5th wheeler and what a great set up it was, could have stayed there all day in the aircon you had going, it was a stinking hot day that one.
I agree with the others (stick around), we all have different opinions I suppose it would be a bit boring if we didn't, but need to have some empathy with other members and try to walk in their shoes.
