what is a good caravan park in cairns

will be looking to go to cairns soon and would like to know of a good caravan park to stay at thats close to water and attractions if possible

also as pensioners we are waying up to either travel by train and back or use the van as we get discounts on the train

i know that in a van you can stop off where you want to but for a straight trip just weighing up the cost

any tips would be helpful pleasde

confuse We were in Cairns last year and checked out a number of caravan parks and also spoke to other van owners our choice was the Crystal Cascades top tourist park at $30 per night, there are cheaper ones but no where near the quality or cleanliness and some are on very busy noisy roads. We stayed 2 weeks and they gave us maximum T/T discount on both weeks also very friendly park.

Crystal Cascades caravan park is about 12 klm from CBD but an easy drive its located near Redlynch. If you are a top tourist member you can get a 4 cent discount on all fuel in a lot of north QLD locations and the T/T park has a list of servo's

If you are going by train why not consider a motel or hotel they often offer great deals that would be cheaper than a Caravan park and most are near CBD and water whereas there are no van parks that we saw near water. biggrinbiggrin

Agree with aussietraveller. Have stayed there 3 times now and always an excellent time. The stone curlews are wonderful. A beautiful walk along the creek at the back of the park.
