anyone got plans for easter?

Hi Herbie,

With the weather we have decided to decide the week before. There is a meet up at Boynedale bush camp after school holidays and think we will be there week end 20th April to say hello but we went there 3 wks ago and it was flooded and closed so i guess that too is up in the air. If it is closed we may have to think of somewhere else. there is a section on here for get togethers.

My plan is to stay off the roads as much as possible over the Easter break, not a good time to be travelling by car.

At the moment we are preparing for a trip, leaving end of May, across the Nullabor, up to the top of WA into the NT then QLD, should be away for a couple of months.smile

I'm with you santa, stay off the roads (and eat heaps of chocolate eggs with the grand children)smile.I prefer to get to were I'm going well before Easter, camp there until everyone has gone back to work, then head off .When I lived in Melbourne ,(on long weekends)there was a mass exit of vehicles from the suburbs heading the same way as me,causing massive delays in getting to the destination(I'm sure we all headed for the same campsite)furiousAs far as my plans go,I'll be in Bendigo ,with the grand children, then heading off. smile      Cheers Peter.

We will stay home and share Easter with the Grandchildren as being on the road would be a nightmare and its hard to eat chocolate whilst driving tends to make a mess of the steering wheel.

I've often wondered where GNs permanently on the road go when it's peak holiday season. My guess is you stay well away from all the popular spots, and wait till all the madness subsides before venturing out again. Am I right?

Some times getting away while holidays are on is not always possible , due to work comitments, would be a perfect life if that happened. And to take your van off your site never gives you the right to have that site back,so times if the c/ park we are staying at isn't busy ,they some times will give you the same site, but that can depened on the mood of the c/ park owner. When we are based some where while working we normaly just stay put and take the tent / camping gear/kayak and fishing rods and free camp if possible. As it is good to get away from the rules and gegulations that go with c/ parks...If for some reason the weather dosn't allow us to go camping we go and get a motel or hotel or b &b . We think we might head out to Longreach for Easter as our daughter inlaw is the local Dr out there. So if no roads are clossed i recon thats where we will go.Have 9 days off altogether as have our 5 days R & R and the 4 days of Easter

Hi Birffie, i am more than happy to pay my taxes going  towards your pension ,as one day i will be in your situation, but by then mate probably no pensions as we know it today...They wont us to work until we are 75..thats ok if you are a politition or some one who dont work in a hard laborious job, but then again they probably want us to drop dead on the job ,so never have to pay us the pension or superanuation. But we will have a hell of a wake.

The week before Easter I will be heading into one of my favourite spots where I know I will be the only one there.

There I will stay until I ma joined by a group of friends in 16 rigs to spend a week or so as a group where we cant be disturbed and yet be central to lots of towns and atractions between Bendigo and Ballarat or any where they wish to travel if they get the urge to move around.

I think most will just settle and talk and drink and eat great food.

Lots of fun planned plus some antics that will appear when not expected.

Many of the full timers usually know where to go and get to their spot early and settle down and let the others panic and do their thing and then when they go back to work to pay our pensions then we get out there spend said pension. See we are a needed part of the community as we utilise the taxes from the workers and then give it back to the workers. They swap food and fuel for said money all are happy, AWWW almost all LOL

Get out there while you can as you never know when your opportunities are removed. Have a mate waiting ot travel and ha a massive heart attack, so you never know when it will come.

We are here for a good time not a long time.

Regards
Brian
