UPDATE ON BETH54

Hi Everone,

Just letting you know that Beth's condition is unchanged since yesterday.

Because she didn't respond to the original medication that they gave her on Friday...yesterday the Dr. changed her to a different one.
Unfortunately, that hasn't worked either so the Cardiologist will see her again tomorrow.

Beth asked me to thank all of you for your kind...and funny...thoughts and get well wishes. She was very pleased that so many of you care.
There's nothing for her to do in there other than keep relaxing and making the most of all the TLC.
She said the food is good too.
What a life!!! biggrin biggrin

I will keep you posted.

Cheers. Pam.

I didnt really want to believe what Dougwe and wombat were saying I thought they were being really unfair by suggesting that Beth was lapping up the bed baths from all the good looking male nurses and not giving womby any chocolates which is a bit rough, so starting to get a bit suspicious you better get better soon Beth so we can squash these wild stories

I might just hide I think. Maybe I could hide in Hospital too, I could get a bed bath then but a young female nurse would be preferred.

Beth is now home. I haven't been in touch with her yet as I think she would be better resting and not worrying about anything too much.

Hi all, and thanks so much for your good wishes. I'm sure they helped.

I'm feeling rather frail at the moment, as much as I hate to admit it and the whole situation has been rather scary actually.

So I've come home with more drugs..Digoxin, Frusemide and Cardizem. I'm sure some of you are familiar with these. I found out they didn't actually change the meds (Digoxin) but added to it (Cardizem). The confusion came from having a doctor with an accent, which I always have trouble with. My Mum was on Digoxin, but she was in her late 70', so I'm a little freaked out that I'm on it at 58.

It was Atrial Fibrillation, and my heart rate was sometimes at 170! I used to get Tachycardia( galloping heart rate) a few years ago, but had an ablation which sorted that out. It doesn't sound like this is related,,I'm not sure about that.

Now to clear up a couple of items on here...I had no sponge baths Doug, and no male nurses doing said sponge bath. biggrin They didn't want me showering because they'd have to take off the monitor to do that. Hence the 'bird bath' at my bedside. Even that was a trial.

Sorry Wombat, but there was no way I was sharing that chocolate...other than one or two,,can't remember,,with Carol.

As well as the chocky, Carol's care package also included books, a little assortment of skin care products and best of all, earplugs! What a blessing they were!

So a big thanks to my old school friend Carol, also to Pam for ringing or texting every day, and everyone else who either contacted me directly or indirectly.

Good to see you back on here Beth. I knew these guys would cause to send you home asap to dispel all those rumours.
Rest up, no need to do anything but eat and rest. Raining too much to want to go out and do anything more.

...........................................................................................................................................................

Hi Beth, my other half (68) has AF, she was given Atenalol 25mg daily, but it made her feel sick, so she was taken off it and given Sigmaxin but only to be taken if she had another attack, and 100mg of Aspirin daily.

I have Tachycardia and am on Sotalol twice daily, plus 100mg of Aspirin.   A few years ago they tried to ablate it, got into the heart ok but couldn't get through to where they needed to ablate the problem, so it was abandoned.   Said I would just have to continue to taking the meds while still on this planet.   They slow you down and make you feel very tired, but I don't have much choice.

Glad you are on the mend and feeling much better, hang in there,

Vic

Wombat I really don't think you should call Doug dogwe. No matter what he's done, it's not very nice to call him names like that. wink

I agree Marj, yucky weather to be out and about. My car is still at my daughters anyway. She's coming over tomorrow to help me with a little shopping, then take me to my GP to give her the lowdown.

Thanks Jon and Vic. I've followed orders and done nothing much today. I'll gradually get a little more active as the days go on. The biggest challenge will be the 13 steps up to the driveway. I had the Physio working with me while in hospital, 'teaching' me how to breath and go up the steps, ie stopping regularly and taking my time.

I forgot to say, that as well as this AF problem, my Asthma was giving me curry at the same time. Double wammy on my poor lungs!
