There must be a lot of council's opting now to make the travelling public pay for the use of the dump points. As Busselton (WA ) c/ parks only offer dumping waste if you are a paying guest .Other you pay to use the dump point. I, can understand that .The info i read also goes on to say ..travellers could also utilize the two city owned and operated Kookaburra c/parks, two dump points for a fee of around $5 depending on size ?? Also a similar facility existed at the waste managment site in Dunsbrough. So Echuca is not on it's own in this department.

Hi Herbie - I know a bit about Echuca as I stop at relations who live in Moama, the dump point in Echuca is at the council caravan park just past the paddle steamer landing, you pay $10 to dump there... I would like to know how much the caravan travellers put into Echuca. I'm sure that the Council could afford to put in a free dump point somewhere on the through road. According to the people in Echuca, the Council want everyone to spend money in their tourist capital of the north, but are very thrifty when spending on any amenities for the tourists. The last time I talked to the people at the Council office, I got the short shift at the reception desk....

Hi Tow Ball, i just cannot use a dump point if it is inside of a c/ park that i am not staying in,i think it would be rather rude to just rock in and dump one,s toilet down his dump point.Wheather i was paying to dump or not. Can you answer if when staying at this c/ park iis the $10 on top of the c/ park fee .
Hello Ken, thank you for your reply re that question .I am just thinking if it costs $15 to dump at that dump point , it would be cheaper to book in there o/ night as the o/ night stay is probably $30 , so for the extra $15 odd $$ you can use power to top up your batteries , use air can , and do the washing..all this dosn't make good busniess management to me .If owned a c/ park i sure as hell wouldn't be encouraging this .I may not be the sharpest tool in the tool box, but going by this set up every time we call into a caravan and we dump our toilet into the c/ parks dump point it cost's him around $15 for us to do that. Now i under stand why they are starting to charge like we staying at the Ritz . ..So all you travellers with out a toilet on board should get a discount in my way of thinking....This is just another way of stopping public dump point being created...If this kind of set up is going to continue people are going to dump waste in the bush or where ever they stop. Some people have not got the money to pay to dump waste , so another money making racket going to be played right into the hands of c/ park opperators.
I'm not having at go at your personally, but it's far to easy to say 'i'm sure'. Can you pleae post factual evidence that this council can afford this? Are you a member of council who has access to all relevent financials? If so, can you please post this evidence?
You write, 'according to the people', how many people did yo speak with? What was the percentage who said this of the whole council? When I say this , I mean, there could be 100 people there. If you've listened to 20 people on only one street who all had the same opinion, yet if you had spoke with the other 80 people of that council and there were fine with these charges, by stating 'the people' would you really be representing the majority of people in that particular council?
I guess my point it, it's far too easy to write and post anything on the web, but backing it up with factual evidence is a whole nother story.

Had planned to stay the week but as my usual practice I always book a night with the option to extend.
There were plenty of good sites but the lovely lady at reception gave me a site right on the end of an isle,
It was too short for my rig and my front bumper was out on the road and the trailer was hanging out over the road at the rear and made it hard for people to negotiate the bend. Also it twisted the bus that much I could not shut the drivers door properly, even with all the wheel chocks etc that I had. It sloped in all directions eg from road to road as well as down into the bend and it was quite a bit.
I went back to the office and explained I could not stay in the spot and could I moved to one of the many sites that were not only longer but at least only sloped from front to rear and not sideways.
I was told very abruptly that the spot SHE gave me was the spot I would stay and that was that. she stormed off.
She was not happy when the next morning I pulled out as the park was not that busy. She wanted to know why I was not staying longer as I mentioned that we had planned to stay up to a week. Was not happy when I told here that I did not like her attitude and I was not happy putting my rig at risk just to suit her ego.
I did not have time to visit the places I intended to so the whole town missed out on my money as well as her.
Would never go back and now it is a pass through town for me.
Regards Brian

I can't understand people with attitudes like that, Brian. It's so unreasonable not to mention illogical. Surely such people are in a very small minority.

Gee mate you did better than me .. you stayed the night, i would of been down at that office demanding a refund, as you were paying for a service that they were not providing. This is what i cannot understand regarding some of these c/ parks..they make you feel like they are doing you a favour, when you go to book in.So in your case the c/ park missed out the town missed out just because of some egotistic person's personality.Struth how to run a business!!!! NOT.

Hi gordon_adl : No I dont take it persdonally, because you dont know me or anything about me, so i will let you in on a bit of my history.
I married my wife 38 years ago in Echuca - Her family have lived in Moama for more than that time - I'm related to 2 people who run buisnesses in Echuca, so you are right gordon_adl, I dont know what I'm talking about. I was going to put in other info about Council, but you can look up that info on the internet yourself. One thing I'm going to repeat is that "I'm sure the Council could afford to put in a free dump point" & I would like to suggest at the Echuca Show Grounds... plenty of space to pull in with your van - out of everybodies way. Just a thought...... gordon _adl , the line "According to the people in Echuca" should read ( my mistake) " according to the people in Echuca that I KNOW - bad slip on my behalf..................Why do I bother posting.

Totally agree with you Towball. You have had to live in Echuca to know how the council works. I lived there 10 years. I do know. Its like everything else there. The council want you to come and spend but don't give, eg the 2nd bridge which the people have been begging for since well before the '60s. Footpaths and sealed roads in the built up housing area would be great too.
Keep on posting Tow Ball, i thought your post was spot on, and to my way of thinking a tourist town is just that!!!! a town that encourages tourist's not dicouring them to drive through the placeand head out to Rich River to spend their money ( meal /drink ) use the dump point and head off. When we were there there it looked like not a lot of industry happening besides farming.Every thing to my way of thinking was geared around farming.Maybe i am wrong in saying that , but in the few day's that we were there did not see big business's that would support the town.Every one relyed on the tourist ,
Please, I'm not asking you to not post. Your posts are valuable, as is most everyones. I did not imply you didn't know what you're talking about. What I did say was that it's too easy to make a statement, anyone can make a statement on anything and
others can either assume it's a fact or assume otherwise. A statement without factual evidence is just that, nothing more than a statement. You provided good feedback and showed an indepth knowledge of the area in response to query. I highly recommend you keep posting.
