Hot Air Balloon

Tomorrow at 5.30am My daughter and I will be going up in a hot air balloon over the Yarra Valley east of Melbourne and then a champagne breakfast....this was a 60th birthday present from my friends last year so if I survive I will have some pics afterward...

You'll both have a wonderful time. My daughter gave me a hot air balloon flight a few years ago, and it was just the best ever.

Well, you should have been up up and away by now Judy and I didn't see anything on the news about corks popping off and putting holes in balloons over the Yarra Valley area and forcing emergency landings.

I hope you had fun and didn't get too drunk, I know it's happy hour somewhere though.

I've always had a fear of flying but I suppose it's something I need to conquer if I'm to experience one of the special things in life. Besides, I've found that a using a camera takes your mind off the fear and forces you to focus on getting great shots. Flying in one of those things would make a great video. One of those little bubble helicopters would be fascinating as well. The older I get, the more I realize there's less time to do the things I need to do before I fall off the perch.

Used to hate it when they came over the Farm.  At the time Dad had Race-horses, and the noise of the Balloons used to stirr them up dreadfully.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Well what a thrill the ride was. So calm and quiet a bit smoggy with the smoke from fires but still amazing.ballon 2013 50% 22.jpgballon 2013 50% 26.jpgballon 2013 50% 41.jpgballon 2013 50% 80.jpgballon 2013 50% 85.jpg

Mother and daughter both looking good. The great thing about flying in a balloon is that you don't feel the wind as you are moving at the same speed.

Light a birthday candle in a balloon and it will never blow out !!!

Once of the best experiences I have had.

i was giving the flight as a birthday gift by my ex secretary who is now more of a daughter to me.

Was over Canberra and it was almost a still day so we did not travel far but were up for over 45 minutes as they could not find a safe place to land and as the winds were so light they were coming from different directions at different heights.

Was a fantastic experience as on one landing attempt we had to accend up again through trees and we all grabbed bits of trees and then when at a heoght again we re;leased the leaves one by one and watched them swirl down to the ground.

There is no sensation of moving except the ground moves under you.

Glad you enjoyed your flight. one of my dreams is to fly over as many parts of Australia that I can and at the moment I am planning a flight over the 2009 Victorian fire area.

Regards
Brian

A trip in a hot air balloon is a great experience - we did one over Alice Springs years ago - was amazing - had a lovely champagne breakfast afterwards at a date farm, and had a good time discussing our experience on the trip with others - too busy while up there to chat!!!!
